NEW SINGLE “GUYS MY AGE” ALREADY EXCEEDS 5.3 MILLON STREAMS WORLDWIDE
The alt-pop band recently unveiled a behind the scenes look at the making of the video for “Guys My Age” while the official video premiered on V Magazine and is now streaming wide on Vevo. Directed by Sophia Ray (Lily Allen, Roosevelt) and shot on location at California’s famed Madonna Inn and Pink Motel, V Magazine deems the video “a dark and dreamy visual experience,” and declares “Hey Violet is truly reminiscent of an early No Doubt…the band perfectly fills the alternative rock-meets-pop void (and are) going to have quite the 2017.” “Guys My Age” is climbing the Top 40 chart and already has over 5.3 million Spotify streams worldwide while the video has over 2 million views. The L.A.-based band recently made their U.S. television debut performing the song on The Late Late Show with James Corden– watch it HERE.
The band’s new single is released on the heels of their EP, entitled Brand New Moves, out now on Caroline Records. The EP debuted as the #1 artist album on iTunes in the U.S., and U.K. and also hit Top 5 on the iTunes charts in Denmark, Norway, Ireland, the Netherlands, Mexico and Canada. With a loyal and passionate fanbase built through non-stop touring, along with their well-received debut EP, 2015’s I Can Feel It, Hey Violet are excited to reveal their bold, new, synth-driven sound with Brand New Moves. The band, who Teen Vogue deems “the next big thing,” has been in the studio for the past six months co-writing the songs with producer Julian Bunetta. “Moving from grimy punk to shiny pop like the Go-Go’s once did, this long -toiling L.A. group just released a delightful EP,” declares the Los Angeles Times.
Hey Violet – which is Rena, her sister Nia Lovelis (drums), Miranda Miller (keys, vocals), Casey Moreta (lead guitar) and Iain Shipp (bass) have been making music individually since they were old enough to ask for lessons. After signing with Hi Or Hey Records last year,Hey Violet got their first taste of rock stardom when thousands of fans poured into the streets of Europe and the UK at their spontaneous acoustic sets. Their debut EP I Can Feel It went to No. 1 on iTunes in five countries, including the U.K., and Top 5 in 10 other countries. Hey Violet recently won the 2016 Teen Choice Award for “Next Big Thing” and just wrapped touring with 5 Seconds of Summer on their ‘Sounds Live Feels Live’ arena tour.
“Get ready for the next big thing.”
“Moving from grimy punk to shiny pop like the Go-Go’s once did, this long -toiling L.A. group just released a delightful EP, ‘Brand New Moves’.”
“Hey Violet is truly reminiscent of an early No Doubt…the band perfectly fills the alternative rock-meets-pop void (and are) going to have quite the 2017.”
“‘Guys My Age’ decries immature teenage males and showcases the band’s recent swivel to more synth-based pop music.”
“(Hey Violet)…falls somewhere between The Go-Go’s and early No Doubt. Which is obviously a very good thing. (‘Guys My Age’ is) as ruthless as it is catchy… complete with cutting lyrics and a killer chorus.”
“(Front woman Rena Lovelis) emits an unheard of level of rock-stardom for such a small girl without even singing a single note. But when she does sing, it’s as if Cortney Love, Gwen Stefani and Hayley Williams crashed into each other and made a whole new generation of rock star.”
“Hey Violet’s stage-energy is infectious. Several notes into their headlining set fists were already punching the air, while Rena worked the stage with the gusto of a young Debbie Harry.”
“(Hey Violet) added an edge their fans have been craving. Brand New Moves adds some winks, some nudges and way more sass.”
