Los Angeles – February 23, 2017 – Live, from HDNET MOVIES, it’s the “Stars Of Saturday Night”—a 24-film weeklong event packed with beloved comedies starring some of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’s most iconic stars, and hosted by SNL alum Jim Breuer starting Saturday, March 25 through Friday, March 31. The event begins with a 48-hour weekend marathon March 25-26, followed by a triple feature every night at 7pE and culminating in a special “Five-Timers Club” marathon on Friday, March 31.
The side-splitting movie lineup boasts films starring an eclectic blend of original SNL cast members and modern favorites, creating a 24-film event that spans the entire history of the influential series. SNL alum highlighted in the weeklong event include host Breuer, Will Ferrell, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Chris Farley, Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Dan Aykroyd, Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Billy Murray, Andy Samberg, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, Norm McDonald and Rachel Dratch.
As part of the week’s festivities, the network also presents a “Five-Timers Club” marathon on Friday, March 31 at 7pE, putting the spotlight on five films featuring five actors who have hosted the seminal series at least five times, including Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck and Danny DeVito.
“To me SNL is the catapult for comedy culture in our society,” said Breuer. “Some of the greatest comedic talent in history comes from SNL.”
After making his big break in 1995 when he joined the cast of NBC’s legendary “Saturday Night Live,” Breuer quickly became a fan-favorite for his original character “Goat Boy” and his dead-on impressions of actor Joe Pesci. Following his success on SNL, Breuer starred alongside Dave Chappelle in the cult favorite film “Half Baked.” Breuer can be seen on “Kevin Can Wait” on CBS, and is also a frequent guest on the Howard Stern Show and Opie Radio.
