Thursday, March 13 from 4-7:30 PM Warehouse Grille, 869 Magazine St. NOLA
Start your weekend off with SoFAB! We’re partnering with the Loisirslit Radio Show for Non-Profit Thursday, a new series of happy hours benefiting a featured local non-profit. Stop by the Warehouse Grille on Magazine St. after work for a fantastic happy hour —all drinks are $5 (premium cocktails AND craft beer), and $1 of every drink goes directly to SoFAB!
Loisirslit will be recording their radio show with special guests Leah Chase and Chef Ryan Hughes and we’ll enjoy live music from Micah McKee and Little Maker.
This weekend we’ll be exploring the stories of Little Red Ridinghood and Petite Rouge. Together we’ll make and enjoy Granny biscuits and blackberry butter. Storytelling is recommended for children ages 3 1/2 to 7 and we prefer that parents or guardians accompany younger children.
You can reserve your free ticket for your child here. Many thanks to Domino Foods, Inc., the Presenting Sponsor of all Kids Menu 2014 programs for helping us keep our programs free.

Join the Culinary Historians of San Diego on March 15 for a discussion of how mind-bogglingly wide the world of food and drink is and what the SoFAB Institute is doing to document, celebrate, and bring a measure of focus to the ever-expanding culinary universe, presented by Philip Dobard of the SoFAB Institute! SoFAB Announces Domino Foods, Inc. as National Title Sponsor of 2014 Culinaria Query & Lecture Series
SoFAB is pleased to announce that Domino Foods, Inc. is the National Title Sponsor of the upcoming 2014 Culinaria Query & Lecture Series for the second year. This year’s Query is “Can We Re-Set the Family Table?” The support of Domino Foods, Inc. makes it possible for us to expand our schedule to include Chicago in addition to Chapel Hill, N.C., Los Angeles, CA., and New York City. The capstone event of the Series – the 5th Annual Contemporary Issues in Food & Beverages Lecture – will take place at SoFAB in October. We are pleased to be able to expand the exploration of cultural issues relating to food and beverages to a national audience. We will be posting the schedule soon.
Friday, March 14th at the New Orleans Cooking Experience 1519 Carondelet St. New Orleans
Purloo is a pop-up restaurant operated by Chef Ryan Hughes dedicated to exploring and celebrating the rich culinary history of the South. A precursor to the brick-and-mortar restaurant to be located in the new Southern Food and Beverage Museum, pop-up Purloo offers an experience unto itself where guests can enjoy a five-course, prix-fixe menu.
We kicked off the 2014 French Market Fare Series with Chef Matthew Kopfler, who made batches of his delicious shrimp and herb calas, which we much enjoyed. We also held our third Raising the Dough Financial Literacy Class, which featured Trey Reinhardt and Nina Camacho talking about Branding. Finally, a big thank you to Alice Hopkins and the Mystic Krewe of Nyx for donating a few of their wonderful food-focused throws to the Museum. Did anyone catch one of their colanders?
