“GMA” is #1 for the Week in Total Viewers and Both Key Target Demos,
Outperforming NBC’s “Today” by 988,000 Total Viewers and 261,000 Adults 25-54

ABC News’ “Good Morning America” ranked as the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers (6.298 million), Adults 25-54 (2.461 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.780 million) for the week of March 3, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research. “GMA” led NBC’s “Today” (5.310 million, 2.200 million and 1.777 million, respectively) during the week by 988,000 Total Viewers, by 261,000 Adults 25-54 and by 3,000 Adults 18-49. In fact, “GMA” more than tripled its lead week to week in both Total Viewers (+203% – 988,000 vs. 326,000) and Adults 25-54 (+235% – 261,000 vs. 78,000) to deliver its largest margin of victory over NBC’s “Today” in 10 weeks (since w/o 12/30/13) and 2nd largest margins this season. Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached almost 21 million users last month.
“GMA” has ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in 84 of the last 88 weeks (since w/o 6/25/12), finishing behind “Today” only during the 2 weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2 weeks of the 2014 Winter Olympics. In Adults 25-54, “GMA” has ranked No. 1 in 20 of the 24 weeks of the season, pacing ahead of the No. 1 finishes at the same point of the 2012-13 Season (18 of 23 weeks*).
On Monday (3/3/14), “GMA’s” post-Oscars telecast drew the ABC newscast’s strongest single-day performance in both Total Viewers (7.162 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.876 million) in nearly 3 years – since 4/29/11, the royal wedding. Further, it was “GMA’s” 2nd-best single-day performance in nearly 10 years in Total Viewers and in 8 years in Adults 25-54 – since 11/3/04 and 2/6/06, respectively.
Head to head on Monday, “GMA” outdelivered “Today” by 1.676 million Total Viewers (7.162 million vs. 5.486 million) and by 635,000 Adults 25-54 (2.876 million vs. 2.241 million), scoring its largest single-day news demo advantage over the NBC program in nearly 20 years – since 5/18/94, based on regular telecasts.
For the 2nd straight week, “GMA” turned in increases from the previous week (5.788 million, 2.297 million and 1.562 million, respectively, on w/o 2/24/14) in Total Viewers (+9%), Adults 25-54 (+7%) and Adults 18-49 (+14%), turning inits most-watched week in more than 22 years – since at least September 1991; Nielsen’s electronic database started on September of 1991. In addition, “GMA” delivered its largest Adults 25-54 audience in 8 years and best Adults 18-49 number in more than 5 years – since w/o 3/13/06 and w/o 1/26/09, respectively.
“GMA” was up year to year also (5.847 million, 2.202 million and 1.633 million, respectively, on w/o 3/4/13) across the board: Total Viewers (+8%), Adults 25-54 (+12%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%). In fact, the ABC morning newscast has improved on the year-ago week in all three demos in 8 of the last 10 weeks.
Season to date, “GMA” stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. “GMA” is leading NBC’s “Today” by 619,000 Total Viewers and 86,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, “GMA” has widened its season margins over “Today” versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 4% (619,000 vs. 596,000) and in Adults 25-54 by 6% (86,000 vs. 81,000). Further, “GMA” is posting its largest Total Viewer season margin in more than 22 years and biggest in Adults 25-54 in 22 years – since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen’s electronic database started on September of 1991) and the 1991-92 season, respectively.
Growing for the 3rd year in a row, “GMA” is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%). In fact, “GMA” is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years – since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively.
During the week, “GMA” more than doubled the performance of “CBS This Morning” in Total Viewers (+103%), Adults 25-54 (+143%) and Adults 18-49 (+147%).
