(Sarasota, FL) — There’s still time to find out if Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson can finally solve the mystery of the moor. The Hound of the Baskervilles is held over by popular demand through August 8. This rousing romp is filled with quick changes, kooky detectives, and presents a quirky, comical, twist on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle tale. Single tickets for this adventure of murder and mayhem range from $36 – $39. Tickets can be purchased by phone at (941) 366-9000, by visiting the Box Office, or online at Floridastudiotheatre.org.

Critics have raved about this fast-paced production. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune describes it as having, “Joyous spirit” and “Comical twists.” The Observer says it is a “Dogged comedy, [that] yields biting laughs” and shows off a “Playful spirit.” Total Theater describes it as “Frivolity and fun.”

Audiences agree calling it, “Superb,” “Wonderful,” and “Best thing ever.” Cast member Michael Daly recalls a moment when the audience literally became part of the show. “One night, the ‘stop beating around the bush’ moment literally stopped the show. Patrick and I could not continue. Our only choice was to take an impromptu bow, and move on. It was hilarious. The crowd stole the show from us in that instant. Some of the best laughs we get are ones we never anticipated in rehearsal. These audiences have been a joy, from the people who are still laughing at a joke from a minute ago, to those who participate in the fun with audible groans at some of the script’s more egregious puns. Everyone is there to have a good time, and they are really supportive of us. The word is out on this show – it’s a fast-paced comedy, not a dusty drama, and our audience members have been great to have along for this crazy trip to the moors.”

Donning multiple costumes and identities, cast member Tom Patterson further commented on the nature of this show stating, “I think ultimately what we as actors want is for everyone to have a good time. This version of The Hound of the Baskervilles is really like a big party and the actors and the audience are really feeding off of each other, really working together to make some fun. “

Witness Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson at their finest. The Hound of The Baskervilles has been extended through August 8 in the Keating Theatre. Single tickets for this quick-witted comedy range from $36 – $39. Tickets can be purchased by phone at (941) 366-9000, by visiting the Box Office, or online at Floridastudiotheatre.org.

About Florida Studio Theatre

Known as Sarasota’s Contemporary Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973 by Jon Spelman. Starting out as a small touring company, FST traveled to places such as migrant camps and prisons. The company then acquired the former Woman’s Club building, becoming the first permanent venue. Shortly after Richard Hopkins arrived, the building was purchased and renamed The Keating Theatre. In the years that followed, Florida Studio Theatre established itself as a major force in American Theatre, presenting contemporary theatre in its five theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Gompertz Theatre, the Parisian style Goldstein Cabaret and John C. Court Cabaret, and Bowne’s Lab Theatre.

Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to a broad-based audience.  FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world.  As FST grows and expands, it continues to provide audiences with challenging, contemporary drama and innovative programs.
