[August 12, 2014- Sarasota, FL]  Florida State University’s award-winning all-female a cappella vocal group is on a hot summer tour and will be presenting an evening of entertainment on Wednesday, August 20 at 7:00 pm at The Glenridge Performing Arts Center (7333 Scotland Way, Sarasota Tickets are $10 for the general public and can be purchased on line at www.GPACTIX.com.

 

The AcaBelles are Florida State University’s only all -female a cappella group. Since being founded in 2000, these classy and sassy women have been redefining lady-pella with their fierce choreography, killer vocals, and innovative arrangements. The singers come from various backgrounds and individual styles to create a unique blend and commanding presence in the a cappella community.

The ‘Belles were South Champions in the International Championship for Collegiate A Cappella in 2009 and 2011 and received four Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award nominations for their 2011 album, “Seamless”. The group recently achieved international success with their cover of “Royals”, catching the eyes and ears of CNN, Good Morning America, and Lorde herself. With their YouTube success, the group was able to fund a full-length studio album, entitled “Rebel”, released August 15th (2014). The AcaBelles are now touring throughout Florida to promote their new album, thank their supporters, and inspire women and future musicians.

 

As an avid supporter of the arts, Florida State University has allowed AcaBelles to flourish during the group’s 14 years of existence. The ‘Belles have performed for their fellow students and faculty members at New Student Convocation, The President’s Barbeque, FSU Basketball Games and more. This past winter, the AcaBelles recorded a Holiday Greeting for all FSU Alumni Association members alongside Dr. Thomas Wright, composer of FSU’s Fight Song.
