GRADUATES OF FAMILY PROMISE
DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS TO CELEBRATE FINDING HOMES
(Sarasota-Manatee)- This Saturday (12/6), three families who have successfully graduated from homelessness to housing will join together to celebrate their hard work and achievement. These three families will be comprised of 3 adults and 6 children.
Each family was a guest of Family Promise of Sarasota for a 90 day period, and during that time each adult worked and saved the money needed to move into their own rented home.
“ This is a great, fun way for our families, previously without a home, and now back on their feet, to give back and mentor others they can relate to“, said Executive Director Wendy Fitton.
The event will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 12:30 at the Concordia Lutheran Church Parsonage.
The Family Promise mission is to make it possible for homeless children and families to make the transition from homelessness to housing. We work with a partnership of 15 church congregations to shelter families facing homelessness.
These congregations provide meals, employment advice and support, meet basic needs and offer an extended family network. These supportive relationships give homeless parents in crisis the strength to regain their independence and stabilize their family
“Our mission is to increase awareness of the need for resources for homeless families with minor children and increase the number of congregations that participate in our program in order to increase the number of families that we serve,” says Fitton.
