ELIOT SUMNER ANNOUNCES INFORMATION EP OUT JULY 29 VIA CHERRYTREE RECORDS
PRESS HERE TO LISTEN TO TITLE TRACK
Eliot Sumner has announced that she will be releasing a brand new 4-song EP on July 29 entitled Information, via Cherrytree. PRESS HERE to listen to the stunning, synth-and-strings driven title track, which was recorded at the Strongroom studios in London.
Information, the first taste of the full length album that’s due out next year, comes from a renewed sense of focus and clarity, and bears electronic hallmarks with some surprising influences including Sumner’s favorite band as a teenager, the Bad Seeds.
Eliot says, “This record is a lot more organic. There’s loads of energy. I’ve been listening to loads of Krautrock which has influenced a lot of it. I think it sounds kind of fresh but also quite familiar. It’s the kind of music that I would probably listen to, which is good.”
“Information,” was recorded in one take and is a modern day break-up song about a quest to know everything, thanks to social media. Soaring melodies disguise a darker subject matter in the guitar-driven “Come Friday,” and “Wobbler” tells the story of a person who “kills people, ex-lovers, out of joy,” explains Sumner.
After releasing The Constant in 2010 under the moniker I Blame Coco, Eliot toured for two years, playing headlining shows and festivals all over the world. Since then, she’s experimented with different writing methods – and even spent time working with Clint Mansell on a film score! – and took time to simply grow. She says, “It’s now or never. I’m proud of the music I’m making and it’s time to take ownership by putting my real name on it.”
Armed with new songs and new energy, it’s obvious that Eliot Sumner has learned how to be a star.
