“With massive pop electronic production and emotive vocals, “drugs” is another strong showing from this emerging talent, and the cinematic video does it justice.”
“…there’s a secret depth to his sound that’s belied by the simplistic titles.”
“[sex] is a vulnerable synth-tinted pop track that’s about so much more than what’s happening between the sheets.” “EDEN’s big, triumphant, Lorde-approved “sex” [Songs You Need in Your Life] “‘sex,’ a soaring new dance tune that’s apparently very deserving of its to-the-point title.”
Hailing from Dublin, 20-year-old vocalist/producer/multi-instrumentalist EDEN released his much anticipated EP i think you think too much of me on Friday viaAstralwerks. The EP is now available at all digital partners as well as in a variety of exclusive physical packages from EDEN’s store and reached #1 on iTunes Alternative Charts and #7 on the Top Album Charts.
In support of the EP, EDEN will hit the road on his headline Futurebound Tour which kicks off September 7th in Vancouverand will bring his striking visual and energetic live performance to shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London and more. Tickets on sale now as well as VIP meet & greet upgrades – PRESS HERE for more information. Tying into the release, EDEN premiered the video for his latest track “drugs” on Pigeons & Planes. “It’s not that I wrote the song about this specific storyline, but the idea that things in your life really only mean as much as you let them connects the visuals with the track and the EP in a powerful way. You can watch the video with an outcome in your mind but things are never quite as simple or straightforward as they seem,” says EDEN. Check it out HERE.
In the early stages of finding his voice as an artist EDEN, otherwise known as Jonathon Ng, made only one rule for himself, “make something you’d be proud of even if no one ever hears it.” With his new EP, he channels that passion for innovation into a guitar-heavy take on electronic pop and proves himself an artist of uncompromising originality. On i think you think too much of me, his raw emotionality imbues the heartsick urgency on “sex,” the woozy desperation on “drugs,” and stark fragility on “and.” On “rock & roll,” EDEN brilliantly merges jagged guitar riffs, heady beats, and feverish meditations on ambition or lack thereof (“I got ten weeks of talking bullshit on repeat ’til I’m burnt out and disappear“), before the song sweetly dissolves into distorted movie dialogue. The EP also features bonus tracks of fan favorites that have been re-produced including “Fumes (feat gnash)” that has garnered over 2.7 million listens on soundcloud. Fans were given a taste of the EP earlier this summer with the first single and accompanying video for “sex” which premiered on Consequence of Sound, PRESS HERE to watch. The track has already racked up over 2.5 million listens in less than one month across digital platforms. Ng learned to play violin at age seven at the urging of his parents and through classical training, discovered his natural musicality. He then began learning new instruments on his own and discovered a passion for songwriting. From the bedroom of his childhood home he began to cultivate a large online following, and establish in his own mind the vision for EDEN’s future. In August 2015 EDEN made his debut with End Credits and-despite making zero effort to promote it-soon found the EP gaining major attention and ultimately amassing more than 30 million streams as well as selling out his first US tour. That momentum continued to build as EDEN released a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” in November 2015, a soulfully cinematic track that hit #1 on HypeM’s popular chart and racked up a million cumulative streams in one week.
