Eastman School of Music presents two additional Faculty Artist Series concerts in September:

 

The Faculty Artist Series presents Eastman Virtuosi Saturday, September 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music. The performance is made up of faculty members Bonita Boyd, flute, Richard Killmer, oboe, Kenneth Grant, clarinet, George Sakakeeny, bassoon, W. Peter Kurau, horn, Irina Lupines, piano, Renée Jolles, violin, Masumi Per Rostad and George Taylor, viola, Guy Johnston, cello, and James VanDemark, bass. The group will be performing a program that includes Hindemith: Octet for Winds and Strings, Mendelssohn’s Variations Concertantes, as well as Leo Smit: Sextet for Winds and Piano.

 

The Faculty Artist Series presents Celebrating Eastman’s Collaborative Pianists, Chiao-Wen Cheng, Irina Lupines, Pi-Lin Ni, and Priscilla Yuen, piano, Monday, September 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall. The concert will include guest artists Mark Kellogg, euphonium (Associate Professor); Oleh Krysa, violin (Professor); Guy Johnston, cello (Associate Professor); and Chien-Kwan Lin, saxophone (Associate Professor). Krysa and Lupines will perform Brahms’ Sonata No. 3 in D minor, Op.108; Ni and Lin will perform Carmen Concert Fantasy, Op. 25, by Pablo de Sarasate, arranged by Chien-Kwan Lin and Gary Louie; Cheng and Johnston will perform Barber’s Cello Sonata, Op. 6; Yuen and Kellogg will perform Paul Hinem’s Sonata for Altohorn in E-flat and Piano.
