Don’t You Forget About The Breakfast Club – The Film Celebrates Landmark 30th Anniversary
in Select U.S. Cinemas for 2 Nights Only This March
Fathom Events, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and BY Experience Bring the
Film that Defined a Generation Back to Movie Theaters in a Newly Remastered Version March 26 and 31
DENVER – February 12, 2015 – The Brat Pack returns to the big screen March 26 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. local time with “The Breakfast Club 30th Anniversary,” presented by Fathom Events, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and BY Experience. Longtime fans and newcomers alike will be able to gather their friends and head to the cinema for a true fan tribute honoring one of John Hughes’ most memorable and recognizable films.
This 30th anniversary release is the first nationwide big screen event of the newly restored version and will be introduced by a bonus featurette that takes a look back at the film that defined a genre and a generation. In addition, fans will hear personal insights from cast members Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall and John Kapelos as well as contributions from filmmakers Diablo Cody, Amy Heckerling and Michael Lehman.
Tickets for “The Breakfast Club 30th Anniversary” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com, beginning 12:01a.m. (MT) Friday, February 13. The event will be presented in more than 430 movie theaters around the country through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
Widely considered one of the best coming-of-age films of all time, The Breakfast Club includes iconic performances from Molly Ringwald (“the princess”), Anthony Michael Hall (“the brain”), Emilio Estevez (“the athlete”), Judd Nelson (“the criminal”) and Ally Sheedy (“the basket case”) as they endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason). Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently — and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same.
“The Breakfast Club resonates with teenagers of all ages,” said Julie Borchard-Young, co-President of BY Experience. “We are thrilled to work with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Fathom Events to showcase beloved director John Hughes’ exemplary and timeless film on cinema screens across the country for its 30th Anniversary.”
“Both long-time fans and new audiences now have the chance to see this iconic film return to its original home of the big screen,” said Fathom Events CEO John Rubey. “Viewers also have the exclusive opportunity to get the inside scoop straight from the film’s well-known and cherished cast.”
In addition to the in-theater celebration, The Breakfast Club 30th Anniversary Edition will also be available on Blu-ray™, including Digital HD with UltraViolet™, and DVD on March 10, 2015.
The Breakfast Club 30th Anniversary Edition includes an all-new trivia track and comes with an array of bonus features and extras that will remind viewers of Hughes’ uncommon understanding of the trials and triumphs of young adulthood.
