Disney Channel
During July 2014, Disney Channel, the 24-hour kid-driven, family-inclusive television network, swept the competition, ranking as cable TV’s #1 Total Day network in Total Viewers (1.6 million) and TV’s #1 network across major youth Kid 2-11 (877,000/2.2 rating), Kid 6-11 (650,000/2.7 rating) and Tween 9-14 (557,000/2.3 rating) demographics. The channel has been the #1 choice across all TV for 39-consecutive months in Kids 6-11 and 51 months in Tweens.
On a weekly basis, the channel has been the #1 cable TV network on a Total Day basis for 5-straight weeks in Total Viewers, and across all TV, has been #1 for 6-consecutive weeks in Kids 2-11, for the 162nd time in the previous 163 weeks in Kids 6-11 and for 163 weeks in a row in Tweens (over 3 years).
Disney Channel exceeded Nickelodeon by solid double digits for the 37th-consecutive month in Tweens 9-14 (+62% – 552,000 vs. 341,000) and for the 36th time in the previous 37 months in Kids 6-11 (+39% – 643,000 vs. 464,000). Disney Channel also led by double digits in Kids 2-11 (+11% – 867,000 vs. 778,000).
In Prime, Disney Channel extended its streak as TV’s #1 network to 113-consecutive months in Kids 6-11 (808,000/3.4 rating) and to 109-straight months in Tweens 9-14 (672,000/2.8 rating).
An original “Sofia the First” (7/11/14) was the #1 TV telecast in Kids 2-5 (1.4 million/8.8 rating) and Kids 2-11 (2.2 million/5.6 rating), while the seventh encore of June’s Disney Channel Original Movie “Zapped” (7/2/14) was the #1 TV telecast in Kids 6-11 (1.6 million/6.9 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.5 million/6.1 rating).
24-Hour Disney Junior channel
During July 2014, 24-hour Disney Junior channel soared to its biggest month on record in Total Day in Total Viewers (535,000), Kids 2-5 (257,000/1.6 rating), Girls 2-5 (129,000/1.7 rating), Boys 2-5 (127,000/1.6 rating) and its #2 month of all time in Women 18-49 (97,000).
Notably, the channel has been TV’s #1 Total Day preschool-dedicated network for 16-consecutive months in Total Viewers, Kids 2-5 and Boys 2-5 – every month since reporting public ratings on April 1, 2013 – for 10-straight months in Girls 2-5 and for 11th months in a row in Women 18-49.
Year-to-year, 24-hour Disney Junior channel was the only preschool-dedicated TV network to generate across the board year-to-year gains, including by 30% in Total Viewers (535,000 vs. 412,000), by 26% in Kids 2-5 (257,000 vs. 204,000) and by 14% in Women 18-49 (97,000 vs. 85,000).
Nick Jr. (-13% to -26%) and Sprout (-19% to -24%) were down by double digits in the demographics.
The channel delivered the month’s Top 5 series across preschooler networks in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5 and the Top 4 preschool cable TV series in Women 18-49:
Disney Junior channel more than doubled Nick Jr. among Girls 2-5 (+117% – 128,000 vs. 59,000) and led by double digits across remaining core demographics: +71% in Total Viewers (531,000 vs. 310,000), +89% in Kids 2-5 (255,000 vs. 135,000), +66% in Boys 2-5 (126,000 vs. 76,000) and +85% in Women 18-49 (96,000 vs. 52,000).
Disney Junior channel towered over Sprout by triple digits for the 16th–consecutive month among Total Viewers (+315% – 531,000 vs. 128,000), Kids 2-5 (+332% – 255,000 vs. 59,000), Girls 2-5 (+341% – 128,000 vs. 29,000), Boys 2-5 (+320% – 126,000 vs. 30,000) and Women 18-49 (+231% – 96,000 vs. 29,000).
