SARASOTA, FL, May 4, 2016 – DWB Board of Trustees President Ida Zito was delighted to present a check for $30,000 to the Asolo Repertory Theatre recently as part of Designing Women’s 2015 annual Grant Program.
Other grant award recipients attending the reception were All Faiths Food Bank, Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota, Community Aids Network, Community Haven, Friendship Centers, Sarasota Ballet, Venice Symphony, and Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, in addition to the Asolo.
Several grants were awarded this year in honor of their patrons. The Friendship Centers grant was given in honor of longtime DWB supporter Molly Schechter, while All Faiths Food Bank received a grant named in honor of DWB’s Ambassadors Guild. A special grant was given in honor of Mr. & Mrs. Al Goldstein to the Ringling College of Art and Design, in form of the Max Turner cast bronze sculpture, “Children on a Bench”, to be installed at the College’s newly-constructed Library.
All recipients are 501(c)3 organizations registered in Sarasota County. The event was held at the Center for Arts and Humanities and was attended by the group’s Board of Trustees. “Our whole organization works hard as a team to raise funds for these grants,” said Barbara Epperson, Board of Trustees Secretary, who also serves as co-chair of the Grant Committee. “It’s wonderful to know the results of last year’s fundraising. When we present these awards, it reinforces how important our work in the community is, and how much it is truly appreciated by the receiving organizations.”
