Invites Residents & Visitors to

‘GO BIG and Give Back’ this Holiday Season

(Delray Beach, FL – November 22, 2017) “Delray Beach is known far and wide for its Famous 100 foot Christmas Tree and this year we’ve got a brand new one,” says Stephanie Immelman, executive director of the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative (DBMC).

The DBMC is the organization responsible for putting on the City’s Christmas activities and New Year’s Eve celebration. “So what’s the big idea? We’re partnering bigtime with nonprofits to bring big smiles to those in need. At the Tree Lighting November 30, we hope you’ll go big in helpful ways. So bring a toy, canned goods or monetary donations to the Tree Lighting and support our local causes,” says Immelman.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Gingerbread House located next to the 100 Foot Christmas Tree during the month of December. For a list of local nonprofits participating, go to www.100ftChristmasTree.com.

Visitors will find the new 100 Ft Christmas Tree at its new location in Old School Square Park. All the fun activities return, such as ice skating, carousel ride and Putt’n around Mini Golf.

On November 30, Santa will cruise to Delray in style in a convertible from Delray Buick GMC, then climb aboard a Delray Beach Fire Department ladder truck and be lifted up to light the Famous 100 Ft Christmas Tree during the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Tree will then be open to visitors from December 1 through January 1, and for a suggested dollar donation, visitors can walk inside it to witness the holiday magic.

In addition, Santa has been nice enough to take a break from his diligent toy making in the North Pole to visit with children at his Delray home next to the 100 Ft Christmas Tree from the night of the Tree Lighting until December 23. Check the website schedule for exact days and times.  Santa will also be doing several Cookie Cruises throughout the month on the Lady Atlantic. Other holiday happenings throughout the month include The Holiday Boat Parade, the Holiday Parade, Screen on the Green and the Menorah Lighting.

“We have a fun schedule of activities and events throughout December,” says Immelman, “For example, Old School Square has programmed some wonderful shows such as Carols by Candlelight and is hosting Empty Bowls again this year. We are hoping our small town community of Delray Beach comes out in a big way.”

The month of December rounds out with a free, family friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration in Old School Square Park from 5 to 9 pm with fireworks from atop the parking garage at 9 pm.
