Los Angeles, CA – May 30, 2017 – The David Lynch Foundation is excited to announce the return of the Festival of Disruption. The immersive festival, curated entirely by auteur filmmaker/artist David Lynch, which first thrilled audiences last Fall during a sold-out weekend the LA Times called “weird, lovely…decidedly otherworldly.” The second edition will be taking place October 14th and 15th at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown LA. The second iteration of the festival will again unite David Lynch’s favorite creatives across disciplines and genres for a unique lineup of musical and artistic performances, talks, film screenings, art exhibits, meditation sessions and more, all with the goal of raising consciousness and funds for the David Lynch Foundation. Tickets will be on sale on Friday, June2nd at 9am PST in all markets via the festival website and AXS ticketing.
The festival will feature the following:
*Performances by Bon Iver (as a rare Justin Vernon solo set), TV On The Radio, The Kills, Sharon van Etten (in what will be her first live performance since January 2017),
Laura Marling, Reggie Watts and more
*Talks by Kristine McKenna with Ed Ruscha, Bill Pullman, Sheryl Lee, Pete Holmes and Twin Peaks Collaborators: Duwayne Dunham, Dean Hurley, Johanna Ray & Gary D’Amico
*Art exhibits by William Eggleston and David Lynch
*DJ sets by Moby and Shepard Fairey
*Meditation experiences by Brian Eno’s Reflection and Bob Roth
*Film screenings including Lost Highway, Los Angeles Plays Itself, Don’t Look At Me and rare David Lynch shorts
*Polaroid photo booth in partnership with Impossible
As a presenting sponsor, ALEX AND ANI will debut a limited edition line of David Lynch products at the festival, with proceeds from sales going to support the Foundation. Following the festival weekend the line will be available in retail and online outlets.
Festival of Disruption allows fans to explore the unique world of David Lynch through music, art and performance, all benefitting the wide-ranging work of the David Lynch Foundation. With Lynch’s iconic series Twin Peaks relaunching on SHOWTIME, there is no better time to celebrate the visionary filmmaker’s otherworldly sensibility.
Last year’s inaugural Festival of Disruption brought together Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters, St. Vincent, Questlove, Kyle MacLachlan & Laura Dern, Mel Brooks, John Malkovich, Frank Gehry, Blondie’s Debbie Harry & Chris Stein and many more for a wildly successful sold-out weekend. Attendees were captivated by the immersive Lynchian world created at the Theatre at Ace Hotel with custom décor, food & beverage and photo and virtual reality exhibits that reflected the filmmaker’s incomparable vision.
Proceeds from the festival benefit the David Lynch Foundation, whose mission is reducing toxic stress and trauma among at-risk populations, including victims of domestic violence, veterans suffering from PTSD, and underserved urban youth, through the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique. The Foundation has reached more than 500,000 people since founding in 2005.
