The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy
Sarasota, FL — The Players Theatre brings that classic macabre family back to life from October 29th – Nov 16th with the area premiere of The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy. This three week run production will be directed, costumed and co-choreographed by Jared E. Walker. Principal choreography will be conducted by Eric Gregory. Set design will be executed by Jeff Weber and Lighting Design by Mike Wood with Musical Direction by Alan Corey.
The Addams Family features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart and surprisingly normal young man from a respectable family–a man her parents have never met. If that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
Jeffery Kin, Artistic Director exclaims, “There are so many reasons for me to be excited about mounting The Addams Family-the musical! First off…it’s just a brilliantly funny and exciting piece that has garnered all sorts of audience awards. Secondly, to be the first in the area to put our ‘stamp’ on it and make it our own is exhilarating! A talented cast with a great orchestra and a top notch group of Creative Directors and Designers is the icing on the cake! We couldn’t be more excited!”
