Sarasota County has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 25th year. |
The award, which is the highest professional recognition in governmental budgeting, will be officially presented to OFM staff during an upcoming county commission meeting.
“This honor recognizes the hard work of employees in not only the Office of Financial Management, but other departments and constitutional officers who also serve the county,” said County Administrator Tom Harmer. “Our team is constantly striving to ensure fiscal responsibility, and this consistent recognition is a reflection of that commitment.”
National recognition is based on how well a budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and a communication device. It is rated based on 27 specific criteria.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition once again,” said OFM Director Kim Radtke. “Budgeting is a year-round process, and this award is a testament to our staff’s dedication to that task and to the citizens we serve.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 18,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
