CHARLOTTE OC PREMIERES THE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “SHELL” TODAY ON VEVO-
DEBUT ALBUM CARELESS PEOPLE OUT NOW ON HARVEST RECORDS

Charlotte OC debuts the video for her new single “Shell” today on Vevo.  Directed by Vicky Lawton, V Magazine premiered the video and declares, “Charlotte OC proves that her talent is limitless. The U.K. artist screams, dances and cries her way around a big studio space acting out the various emotions that are printed throughout.  The purpose is to prove that women are far more complex than they’re made out to be- and that strength and weakness are not mutually exclusive traits, nor do they solely define a person.”   Says Charlotte OC, “The video represents how as women, we often get reduced to just load of basic stereotypes aiming to simplify aspects of our personalities.  We are treated as though we are either “angry” or “flirty” almost like we become a cartoon of what a woman is – or a kind of shell of who we are.  All of these extremes are empty, which is why we wanted the video shot in black and white.  I think overall women are rejecting this idea, of everything being looked at from the same angle, or all of us being the same size and wearing the same clothes.  I’m proud of this song and truly felt like I grew a spine after I wrote it!”

Charlotte’s debut album Careless People is out now via Harvest Records.  The U.K. artist recorded the album at Hollywood’s legendary Sunset Sound with producer/former Ima Robot member Tim Anderson (Solange, Youngblood Hawke, Halsey).  She recently madeher television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she performed the album’s lead single, “Darkest Hour.” The track, which already has over 1.4 million streams, is one of 10 originals on Careless People which also includes “Shell” and “Medicine Man.”   Says Charlotte O.C., “The album is a collection of songs that tells the story of how other people’s recklessness and careless behaviour can hurt and affect others.  It’s also about me being careless and moments where I probably should have cared less while finding out what I actually cared about.”

Careless People follows her acclaimed breakout EP, Colour My Heart. SPIN praised how Charlotte “channels the bewitching allure of Stevie Nicks and the big-throated finesse of Alicia Keys.” NYLON said, “It’s only a matter of time before you get hooked on this U.K. singer and songwriter’s gorgeous sound.” Charlotte has also developed a reputation as a formidable live performer, delivering highly praised performances on tour throughout the UK and Australia and in the US at SXSW and Governors Ball.  Upcoming U.S. tour dates will be announced soon.
“Hair-raisingly beautiful…Charlotte OC makes spacious ballads tinged with ominousness and sorcery.”

“(Charlotte OC’s) Careless People combines the emotion of Joni Mitchell with the languorous magic of Lana Del Rey….
Hers is the kind of vocal that soars–not in the way birds do, but rather that of jet engines. Heady and hypnotic sounds… A star in the making.”

“What sets (Charlotte OC) apart is that she hybrids her goth metaphysics with deep soul.”
