(Boston) The Celebrity Series of Boston announced its 2014-2015 season today, marking 76 years of bringing the world’s greatest performing artists to Boston. The season opens on Sunday, October 5, 2014 with Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini in recital. In total, the 2014-2015 season will include 46 music, dance and entertainment engagements. The 2014-15 season is sponsored by Amy and Joshua Boger.
The 2014-2015 season offers a five-performance debut series, three orchestras, seven ensembles, six piano recitals, six instrumental recitals, three vocal recitals, thirteen jazz and popular song performances, six dance and physical movement companies and two spoken word performances. Celebrity Series events in the 2014-2015 season will take place in NEC’s Jordan Hall, Symphony Hall, Pickman Hall, Berklee Performance Center, Sanders Theatre, Citi Shubert Theatre, and the Citi Wang Theatre.
SUBSCRIPTION AND SINGLE TICKET SALES
Subscription sales, both online and by mail, will begin on April 16, 2014.
Online subscriptions will be available beginning at 9:00am on April 16 at www.celebrityseries.org. Subscription brochures with ticket order forms will be mailed the week of April 16. Subscription sales include half-price child ticket pricing for most events.

Subscription orders by phone will begin on Monday, June 9, 2014, and single ticket sales for most events will begin on Monday, September 8, 2014.
The 2014-2015 season will feature the Boston debuts of pianist Vadym Kholodenko, the Simón Bolívar String Quartet, Tania Pérez-Salas Compañia de Danza, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Brian Brooks Moving Company, organist Cameron Carpenter, Dublin Guitar Quartet, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Kyle Athayde Dance Party, chamber ensemble Trio Jean Paul, and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet.
CELEBRITY SERIES DEBUTS
Making their Celebrity Series debuts during the 2014-2015 season are dancers Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass, violinist Lisa Batiashvili, tenor Joseph Calleja, singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, Voices Boston (formerly PALS Children’s Chorus), Calder Quartet, alto saxophonist Donald Harrison, jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, violinist Janine Jansen, jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, Radiolab co-host Jad Abumrad, and jazz saxophonist Ravi Coltrane.
THE DEBUT SERIES
The Debut Series continues for the third year at Pickman Hall with pianist Vadym Kholodenko, the Simón Bolívar String Quartet, pianist Inon Barnatan, Dublin Guitar Quartet, and Trio Jean Paul. Celebrity Series will present conductor Riccardo Chailly with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and violin soloist Nikolaj Znaider in a program of Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides Overture and Symphony No. 5, “Reformation,” and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Symphony Hall; Sponsored by Eleanor and Frank Pao.
The San Francisco Symphony conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas with violin soloist Gil Shaham will perform Liszt Mephisto Waltz No. 1, Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 2, Samuel Carl Adams Drift and Providence, and Ravel Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2 at Symphony Hall on Sunday, November 16, 2014; Media partner 99.5 WCRB.

On Saturday, October 18, 2014, the Juilliard String Quartet will perform a program of Webern, Berg, and Schubert at NEC’s Jordan Hall. The Simón Bolívar String Quartet makes its Boston debut at Pickman Hall as part of The Debut Series on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 with a program of Mendelssohn, Ginastera, and Brahms. Created from within the Fundación Musical Simón Bolívar, the Simón Bolívar String Quartet is composed of principal musicians of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra (SBYOV) of Venezuela, an important product of El Sistema founded by maestro José Antonio Abreu.
On Thursday, January 22, 2015, the Emerson String Quartet will perform with new cellist Paul Watkins at NEC’s Jordan Hall in a program of Purcell, Beethoven, and the premiere of Lowell Liebermann’s String Quartet, which was co-commissioned by Celebrity Series of Boston.
The Calder Quartet will perform the Boston premiere of Andrew Norman’s Sabina, Ravel String Quartet in F Major, Thomas Adès Arcadiana, and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Opus 95, “Serioso” at NEC’s Jordan Hall on Friday, February 20, 2015; An Aaron Richmond Recital; Sponsored by the D.L. Classical guitar ensemble the Dublin Guitar Quartet performs at Pickman Hall in their Boston debut on April 8, 2015 as part of The Debut Series. In keeping with the Quartet’s devotion to new music, the program will include works by John Tavener, Leo Brouwer, György Ligeti, and Arvo Pärt.
Trio Jean Paul presents a chamber music program at Pickman Hall in their Boston debut on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 as part of The Debut Series. The program will consist of Beethoven’s Piano Trio in E-flat Major, Opus 1, No. 1, Wolfgang Rihm’s Fremde Szenen III, and Dvořák’s Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Opus 65.
ENSEMBLES
