June 14th Los Angeles, CA –  LA-based pop artist Catey Shaw announces the release of “The Ransom (Tommy Walker Remix)” – an electro/dance take on the title track of her brand new EP. Stream the remixed single via Myspace HERE.  Fans can also purchase The Ransom EP in full on iTunes HERE. Shaw has been praised by Billboard, Nylon, TIME, Complex, OUT Magazine and more for her unique, genre-crossing sound.
Tommy Walker is a three-time Ultra Music Festival performer, sharing the stage with TiëstoDyroNicky Romero and Don Diablo, to name a few. Releasing tracks independently as well as via Black Hole Recordings (Deadmau5Ferry CorstenAllen & Envy), Walker has now taken on Catey Shaw’s one-of-a-kind sound. “It’s always great to hear other people’s interpretation of my music. It’s so interesting to get that outside perspective,” Shaw told Myspace. “I especially love the way Tommy Walker screwed with the vocals – that’s something we don’t really explore as much so it’s cool to hear it another way.”
This fresh remix follows the release of Shaw’s new EP, The Ransom. “Catey’s new music seems to follow the pattern of breaking hearts and taking names, complete with an ’80s beat.” (Inked Magazine) In advance of its June 10th release, The Ransom EP has already built a buzz in the blogosphere. PopCrush called her end-of-summer single, “Walks All Over You” “upbeat, audacious, and a complete earworm.” Shaw has dropped visuals for the first four singles from the project, “Walks All Over You,” (85k views) “Tell Everyone” (21k views), the title track, “The Ransom” (57k views) and her latest single “Lovesick Jerk.” Fans can also stream “Tell Everyone” on OUT Magazine and “Walks All Over You” on PopCrush.
“Catey Shaw does a lot of things right,” said Out Magazine, “Her songwriting is poppy but incisive, her voice is downright mellifluous.” Shaw’s EP follows her 2014 project, The Brooklyn EP, praised by The Huffington Post who remarked, “Shaw’s release proves she’s not a hipster gimmick, but an artist to be taken seriously.”Perez Hilton commented that with her previous release “she officially cements herself as the Lily Allen for a younger generation.”
The Ransom EP is the third release from Catey Shaw following 2013’s Clouds and 2014’s The Brooklyn EP. For more information, please visit:https://www.facebook.com/cateyshawmusic.
