Sarasota, Fla. – (January 15, 2016) – Cat Depot is pleased to announce the names of honorees who will be recognized at the annual Love Me Do gala on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Sarasota Hyatt Regency, 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota. Proceeds will benefit homeless cats and kittens providing medical care, food and shelter.

 

Honorees: Local Veterinarians who donated their time and service to saving the lives of cats and kittens at Cat Depot:

Honoree: Nancy Colby, Artist/Instructor/Animal Advocate

In recognition of her dedication to promote, educate, and provide humane treatment for special needs cats. Inspired by the love animals, Nancy expresses that love in her paintings of those beautiful creatures.  Animal lovers are drawn to her sensitive renderings, awards abound and her works helps support many animal rescue groups.  Nancy teaches watercolor at Venice Art Center, North Port Art Center and Visual Arts Center.  Her natural ability has allowed her to continually achieve top honors including being voted Best Pet Portrait Artist three times by Sarasota Pet Magazine.  She is two-term Past President of Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society, member of Society of Feline Artists, Board Member Friends of Cats and Dogs, and Cat Depot Advisory Board Member.

Honorees: Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue

In recognition of risking their lives to save animals in need, and in particular, for saving a cat named Ryan from a burning building. Ryan was severely burned and brought to Cat Depot for medical care. He has since recovered and living in a loving forever home.

The annual fundraising gala will include a fabulous buffet, open bar, and silent and live auctions. And, going back in time to the craziness and hysteria of Beatlemania, entertainment will be provided by The Beatlemaniax, the most authentic Beatles show band in South Florida. The Beatlemaniax capture the look and excitement of a real Beatles concert with the unique style clothing and “mop-top” hair that their mentors wore during their concert career.

 

Chance drawing tickets are available for a trip for two to London. The trip includes airfare for two from any U.S. international airport and four nights at an exquisite five-star hotel in bustling London (total value of $4,600). The drawing will be held March 5, 2016, at the Love Me Do gala; ticket holders do not have to be present to win. Chance drawing tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100.

The 2016 gala chair is Angelique Chromy. Ms. Chromy is an entrepreneur who founded PKG-It, Inc., a packaging and assembly company. She resides in Sarasota with her husband and five cats (one of whom is an original Cat Depot cat).
