CASS Showcases Pop Graffiti Artists with New Show Dubbed Outsiders: From Street to Canvas

WHAT: CASS is hosting its new pop graffiti exhibit called Outsiders: From Street to Canvas. The exhibit will feature Hueman, who was featured on CNN for her work, along with four other pop graffiti artists known nationally and internationally. Guests can enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres catered by Datz and craft brews provided by Coppertail.

WHO:  Hueman: A hybrid lowbrow artist with fine-art painterly skills, who brings femininity to a movement that at times, can be juxtaposed to the gracefulness of her work. She presses her striking, freestyle vision to canvas drawing on the human condition to create impressive mash-ups of beautiful and grotesque abstracts that are figurative, ordered and chaotic.

Mateu Velasco: A Brazilian-American multimedia artist currently based in Los Angeles, California is known for his incentive graffiti style. Mateu’s recent paintings and illustrations have evolved beyond the tightening boundaries of the modern street art movement and into the dynamic domain of contemporary visual arts.

Rene Gagnon: Rene Gagnon has dedicated his entire life to the arts. At the age of two, he began drawing daily in a family calendar with his father. In the mid-eighties, Gagnon found “his calling” and became enthralled in the Hip-Hop and graffiti movement that was trickling up the east coast from New York to Massachusetts.

Rodrigo Valles:  Is a New York City based, self-taught artist. He taught himself to oil paint around the age of 26 although he spent most of his time writing graffiti as a teen. When he taught himself how to oil paint, he was able to marry street art and fine art in a way that was uniquely personal but well within the framework of the growing artistic genre of Urban Art.

Natalia Rak: A graduate of Fine Arts in Lodz. Natalia has had a passion for painting since the age of 10. For two years she has been associated with Streetart. She has a passion of painting the many faces of women. Her colorful paintings create mood, mystery and metaphors.
