Passion Reborn

CANTON, OHIO (August 23, 2016) – As students, teachers and parents get into the full swing of a new school year, so too does the Canton Symphony Orchestra begin a new season of diverse programs.  It gets started with ConverZations on September 12 at 12:00pm with Erik Mann, Executive Director of the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society presenting “Classical Passion Reborn”.  ConverZations are free public discussions featuring a variety of musicians and music-lovers alike. The series, sponsored by T. K. & Faye A. Heston and the Ada C. & Helen J. Rank Charitable Trust, kicks off in the Zimmermann Symphony Center, 2331 17th St. NW, Canton.  The ConverZations Series will continue on the second Monday of every month from October 2016 to April 2017.

Along with holding the position of Executive Director of the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society, Erik Mann is also a faculty member at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he teaches Guitar Literature and Guitar Pedagogy and teaches lessons for the preparatory department.  His wide variety of performances have included solo, chamber, and orchestral playing.  He has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra and Glimmerglass Opera and as a concerto soloist with the Erie Philharmonic and the Erie Chamber Orchestra.  He holds a Bachelors degree from Towson University and his Masters degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

For the ConverZations discussion, Erik will discuss how audiences around the world are now engaging in classical music in more diverse ways than ever before despite the growing concern that passion for classical music is in decline.

ConverZations attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch, and the orchestra provides coffee and a light dessert. For more information on upcoming ConverZations lectures and other events run by the Canton Symphony Orchestra, visit www.cantonsymphony.org/converzations.
