BUENO PROMOTED FROM DAYTON TO DAYTONA; THOMPSON JOINS DRAGONS

DAYTON, OHIO—The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Infielder Ronald Bueno has been promoted from Dayton to Daytona (Florida State League).

Infielder Cory Thompson has been promoted to Dayton from the Arizona League Reds (AZL Reds).

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

A new roster is attached.

Bueno appeared in 61 games for the Dragons, batting .270 with one home run and 22 runs batted in.

Thompson, the Reds fifth round draft pick in 2013, was scheduled to begin the 2015 season with the Dragons but suffered a shoulder injury late in spring training and missed the first half of the season. Since returning to action with the AZL Reds on June 20, he has appeared in eight games, batting .323 with one home run and three runs batted in. Thompson was signed by the Reds out of Mauldin High School in South Carolina in 2013, passing up an offer to play at the University of South Carolina after starring as a shortstop and pitcher in high school. Prior to this season, Thompson was selected by Baseball America as the “Infielder with the Best Arm” in the Reds minor league system. Thompson played at Billings in 2014, batting .245 with six home runs and 28 RBI. He was also perfect in 13 stolen base attempts.

The Dragons host the Fort Wayne TinCaps (San Diego Padres affiliate) tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.
