Brooklyn-based electronic rock music trio SAVOY have today (12/2) via Monstercat released their new four-track EP 1000 YEARS which features the lead single “Love Is Killing Me” (featuring Chali 2na Jurassic 5). The self-produced EP-which is currently at #4 on the iTunes Dance Albums chart-is the band’sfirst collection of tracks to be released since SAVOY‘s 2014 15-track album SELF PREDATOR and further builds on the trio’s crossover appeal in the rock world. 1000 YEARS can be streamed via SOUNDCLOUD and SPOTIFY and purchased at iTunes. Meanwhile, SAVOY encourages fans to join them Tuesday, December 8 for a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) to discuss 1000 YEARS and their upcoming tour.
“Savoy has always understood that the future of all music is created by the synthesis of old and new,” says SAVOY. “Our 1000 Years EP is an experiential mashup of time periods that puts live, head banging rock and roll music on top of a foundation of electronic sounds. The raw, rock, instrumentation rips over heavy bass synths and analog keys to build a musical experience that is lacking in today’s electronic music scene. Through a bold blend of retro and future, 1000 Years delivers the comfort of nostalgia but preys on the desire for something new.”
Track listing for 1000 YEARS:
1. Pump It Up
2. Your Time (featuring KIELY)
3. Let You Let Me
4. Love Is Killing Me (featuring Chali 2na of Jurassic 5)
SAVOY–Gray Smith (producer), Ben Eberdt (guitarist) and Mike Kelly (drummer)-will hit the road in early 2016 with the group’s trademark live shows boasting live instrumentation including Grammy-nominated vocalist Heather Bright and their electrifying light show. Their national headlining “1000 Light Years Tour” will kick off January 6 in Nashville with stops in Atlanta, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Boston before reaching New York Friday, January 15 for a show at Irving Plaza. The 16-date outing then continues with shows in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Omaha, Houston and Austin before wrapping Saturday, January 30 in Tulsa. Tickets are on-sale now. For more information visit www.savoyband.com and see below for full list of tour dates.
The trio remains to be the first and only electronic act sponsored by Gibson Guitars as a result of their captivating live shows, furthering their crossover appeal into the rock world. “The 1000 Light Years Tour symbolizes so much for us,” says guitarist Eberdt. “We want you to feel the raw energy of rock n’ roll of the past, yet also feel as though you’ve been blasted 1000 years into the future at the same time. The live show is the culmination of something we’ve been chasing our whole lives – the perfect blend of past and future. The show runs on the pure guts and grime of a rock show, but with the beautiful production and massive energy of a festival dance show.”
Critical praise for “Love Is Killing Me (ft. Chali 2na)”:
“Savoy known for lasers, high energy, lasers, genre melting, lasers, live shows, and did I mention lasers, show a flair for mixing hip hop, indie dance and rock n roll…’Love is Killing Me’ shows the ingenuity of this band.”
–Jim Babaoglu, EDM SAUCE, November 17, 2015
“Swinging left-coast hyphy electro-soul is the easiest way to describe ‘Love Is Killing Me…’ it’s a funky outlier…a well-crafted winner.”
–Marcus Dowling, LESS THAN 3, November 17, 2015
“Beginning with a full-bodied bass rhythm and a jazzy temperament, the drop foregoes much of the live band sound that Savoy has been known for. In return, we get an incredibly uplifting soundscape…It’s funky and fun, and I’m all about it.”
–Matthew, YOUR EDM, November 18, 2015
“another stellar addition to their discography”
–Alex Zimmerman, ONLY THE BEAT, November 25, 2015
“I love collaborations like this that are equal parts awesome and unpredictable.”
—GREAT WHITE DJ, November 17, 2015
