Sarasota, FL February 13, 2014 … With a comedic career that is rarely seen, Bob Newhart is back atthe Van Wezel on February 25, 2014, prepare to roll around in the aisles in fits of laughter!

Newhart was an accountant at the age of thirty who created monologues as a diversion from his everyday life. From his dry witty monologues his career dramatically changed path and has spanned: two successful television shows, fourteen feature films and millions of sales in albums worldwide. He has won many awards including Grammys, The Mark Twain Prize for Humor and a Peabody Award, in 2013 he received his first Emmy– he was named Outstanding Guest Actor on CBS ‘The Big Bang Theory’.

Newhart’s comedy album ‘The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart’ released in 1960 went straight to number one in the charts, beating Elvis Presley and the cast album of The Sound of Music. It was the first comedy album to ever make it to the number one spot on the Billboard Charts; it also received the 1961 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Bob Newhart’s comedic career also includes acting, with two long-running and prize winning situation comedies in 1970 and 1980. He also had two short-lived sitcoms in the nineties and has appeared in more recent film roles such as: Catch-22, Elf and Horrible Bosses.

“There’s gratification in making somebody laugh. It’s a wonderful sound. I find myself, to this day, doing it, wanting to make people laugh.” – Bob Newhart.
