WEST COAST TOUR ANNOUNCED
April 22, 2016 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles indie rock band Banta have announced a new video series titled The Warehouse Sessions. The band recently recorded a series of videos in a downtown rehearsal space showcasing live versions of 3 songs off of the upcoming album Dark Charms. The series, presented by Warehouse Acropolis, studio of taste maker and visual artist Justin Bauer, kicks off with a live version of their latest single “Three Feet From Gold.” The video can be viewed on Northern Transmissions and eOne’s official YouTube channel.
“Three Feet From Gold” was the 4th most added song at AAA radio and the top 5 greatest spin gainer with airplay at KINK in Portland, KTAO in Taso, NM, WZEW in Mobile, AL and more. New adds include KCSN in Los Angeles, KCLC in St. Louis, WYEP in Pittsburgh and 10 additional stations nationwide. BANTA is the brainchild of Sharaya Mikael, a Portland native who called it quits on a six-year desk job in 2010 to pursue songwriting in Nashville, TN. After learning the ropes of the music world in Music City, Mikael landed back on the West Coast in Los Angeles. There she began to balance her singer/songwriter pop melodies with the indie-grit of an Echo Park rock band. BANTA officially formed in 2013 and when Sharaya tracked a 4 song self-titled EP with producer Andrew Stonestreet (of Greylag). With the support of a rotating cast of Echo Park musicians BANTA quickly gained notoriety in the LA indie-music scene. Mikael considers herself a songwriter first and foremost, and BANTA as a project that expresses her classic rock inspirations and collaborations. Frequently playing venues like The Echo, The Troubadour and eventually a coveted residency at The Satellite, local blogs such as Buzzbands LA and The Deli Magazine took notice, landing Mikael a record deal with eOne Music. In 2015 the full band opened a sold out run of shows for Houndmouth. They have shared bills with French Style Furs, Harriet, The Mynabirds, and Avid Dancer to name a few. The debut album Dark Charms is set to drop June 3rd.

What the press is saying about “Dark Charms”:
“Don’t let the name fool you, ‘Dark Charms’ is one of the brightest, deepest, loveliest records of the year. If Fleetwood Mac and Rilo Kiley raised a baby in hipster enclave Echo Park, Banta would be that lovely girl and ‘Dark Charms’ would be her glorious 20-something coming out party.” –
Popdose
“In Banta’s current standing as a flourishing act it sounds like their moment to break through is about to change from someday to now.” –
