LOS ANGELES, CA—April 29, 2014—AXS TV—the premier destination for live festival coverage and unparalleled performance broadcasts—pays tribute to Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman with the concert special ALL MY FRIENDS: CELEBRATING THE SONGS & VOICE OF GREGG ALLMAN, on Sunday, May 11, at 8pE/5pP. Filmed live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, on January 10, 2014, the career-spanning legacy concert covers over 40 years of classic rock, as an impressive roster of industry icons come together to honor the inimitable Gregg Allman, founding member of the beloved Allman Brothers Band, and one of the most acclaimed artists in the history of rock n’ roll.
AXS TV gives viewers inside access to this exclusive sold out event, that boasts once-in-a-lifetime performances from a genre-defying blend of artists taking on 26 of Allman’s biggest hits. Supporting each performance throughout the night is a super-group house band led by GRAMMY Award-winner Don Was, and comprises drummer Kenny Aronoff; Rolling Stones piano man Chuck Leavell; and Allman Brothers axeman Jack Pearson.
Highlights include Allman Brothers alumni Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks opening the evening with “Come & Go Blues”; Devon Allman, Jimmy Hall, and Robert Randolph on “Can’t Lose What You Never Had”; blues singer Keb’ Mo’ on “Just Another Rider”; Brantley Gilbert with “Just Before the Bullets Fly”; the legendary Dr. John on “Let This Be A Lesson To Ya”; Train frontman Pat Monahan on “Queen of Hearts”; John Hiatt with “One Way Out”; Taj Mahal on “Statesboro Blues” with Gregg Allman; Widespread Panic on “Just Ain’t Easy”; country favorite Trace Adkins on “I’m No Angel”; guitar guru Vince Gill with “Multi-Colored Lady”; Martina McBride with “All My Friends”; hitmaker Eric Church on “Win, Lose, or Draw”; and more.
The guest of honor himself, Gregg Allman, closes out the evening, joined by folk hero Jackson Browne for acoustic renditions of “These Days” and “Melissa”; “Midnight Rider” with Zac Brown and Vince Gill; and a very special Allman Brothers Band encore, with Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes, on “Dreams” and a monumental 15-minute jam of the catalogue classic “Whipping Post.” The night comes to an end as Allman invites his fellow performers back on stage for an epic collaboration of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”
“Gregg Allman is a true living legend, whose music continues to influence and inspire a new generation of fans and musicians,” said Mark Cuban, AXS TV founder. “This is an unprecedented event, stacked with incredible performances from a wide range of music icons, and it’s a perfect addition to the top-tier programming AXS TV is known for.”
Show creator and executive producer Keith Wortman added, “This all-star lineup of artists coming together to celebrate the man and his music is truly an unprecedented event. I’m thrilled to be partnering with AXS TV to bring this special concert event to Gregg Allman fans around the country.”
