Boulder, CO – Rainforest Action Network returns to Boulder on Wednesday June 8th for a lively conversation between RAN Executive Director Lindsey Allen and our special guest Naomi Klein about keeping fossil fuels in the ground, arresting climate change, and challenging corporate power.

Naomi Klein biography:

Naomi Klein is an award-winning journalist, syndicated columnist and author of the international bestsellers, No Logo (2000), The Shock Doctrine (2007) and This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs the Climate (2014) which was the 2014 winner of the Hilary Weston Writers Trust Prize for Nonfiction and was one of the New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2014 . Now in paperback, it is being translated into over 25 languages.  This Changes Everything, the documentary inspired by the book and narrated by Naomi premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2015 and is available worldwide

 

Lindsey Allen biography:

RAN Executive Director Lindsey Allen is a world-class campaigner with more than a decade of experience and an unmatched track record pressuring and inspiring some of the world’s largest corporations to protect rainforests. Allen has spent her career preventing commodity expansion into globally critical forest areas, and has played a central role in achieving some of the most significant corporate policy commitments to protect forests over the past decade. A veteran environmental and social justice activist, Allen has expertise in organizing communities to engage in powerful mass mobilizations and direct actions.

 

Celia Alario biography:

Celia Alario is a communications strategist, media consultant and educator. She cavorts with grassroots change agents, academics and journalists who share her love for social justice, planetary healing and culture shaping. In the last 25 years Alario has helped spin groundbreaking media campaigns, provided one-on-one coaching for dozens of Communications Directors, trained hundreds of spokespeople and placed thousands of stories about critical social justice and environmental issues in media outlets worldwide. Alario teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in Environmental Communications for the Environmental Studies Department and the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at her alma mater, UC Santa Barbara. She’s on the Board of the Center for Story-Based Strategy, and on the Advisory Board of IVAW (Iraq Veterans Against the War).
