ASOLO REP ANNOUNCES CASTING FOR 2016-17 REPERTORY SEASON

(SARASOTA, January 11, 2017) — Asolo Repertory Theatre, one of the few true rotating repertory theatres in the country, proudly announces casting for its 2016-17 rep season. From January through April, up to three world-class productions seamlessly rotate and off the stage of Asolo Rep’s Mertz Theatre. The majority of the theatre’s season company of actors appear in two plays at the same time, with some in up to three. THE GREAT SOCIETY, Robert Schenkkan’s gripping sequel to last season’s record breaking production of All the Way, kicks off the rep season on January 13. John Strand’s poignant political masterpiece about the late Justice Scalia, THE ORIGINALIST, opens January 20. Garson Kanin’s classic American comedy, BORN YESTERDAY, opens February 10. When THE ORIGINALIST closes on March 7, it is replaced by Lillian Hellman’s THE LITTLE FOXES, helmed by Tony Award®-winner Frank Galati. And in April, in the Cook Theatre, Asolo Rep will present THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY, the thrilling new play set in the theatrical world of professional wrestling.
