Vice President and General Manager of ABC Radio Steve Jones sent the following note to staff announcing that Ann Compton will serve as a political contributor during ABC News Radio’s convention coverage.
Team –
I wanted to share with you the exciting news that Ann Compton will serve as a political contributor during ABC News Radio’s coverage of the Republican and Democratic 2016 conventions. Ann’s 41-years covering the White House and her enormous list of accomplishments are well documented. Few people have witnessed as much history first-hand as Ann Compton. Her blend of experience and wisdom gained from decades covering politics make Ann uniquely suited to put today’s political developments in perspective and to offer context that will best inform our listeners and distinguish our coverage in Cleveland and Philadelphia.
ABC News’ Aaron Katersky will anchor our nightly coverage with Ann beside him and, they will be joined by ABC News political analysts Steve Roberts and Trey Hardin along with ABC News’ Alex Stone, Brad Mielke, Jim Ryan, Ryan Burrow, Mark Remillard and Cheri Preston.
In addition to our anchored coverage, we will serve a large number of affiliates. At the GOP convention in Cleveland, for example, nearly 30 broadcasters will originate from the ABC News Radio section of Media Row.
This election season has captured Americans’ attention like few others and, once again, ABC News Radio—America’s largest commercial radio news network—is taking a leadership role in content and coverage. More details on our extensive convention coverage plans to come!
