Atlanta, GA – Now in its 17th year of seafaring musical adventure, The Rock Boat – one of the first themed cruises of its kind – returns for 2017 with a brand new lineup and unlimited adventures in store. Hosted by renowned alternative rock band Sister Hazel (“All for You”), The Rock Boat XVII will feature five nights of rock ‘n’ roll mayhem aboard the beautiful Norwegian Jade with stops in two Caribbean paradises along the way.
The top of the lineup includes first time Rock Boater and feel-good hit maker Andy Grammer, indie pop star Ben Rector, and ‘90s alt-rock icons Better Than Ezra. Returning Rock Boat favorites include heartland jangle rockers Red Wanting Blue, Celtic tunesmiths Gaelic Storm, Texan-bred roots group Green River Ordinance, alt-rockers Melodime, rock & roll purists Wild Adriatic, the modern folk of Andy Suzuki & The Method, Midwestern soul rockers Welshly Arms, bluesy crooner Amy Gerhartz and the jam-happy Brian Fechino & Friends. Newcomers include moody soundscapers Grizfolk, the intricate melodies of Jared & The Mill, party-starting maestro Andy Frasco & The U.N., piano popper Aijia, the funky seven-piece Ripe and the quirky art-rocker Wrenn.
“The goal in 2001 was to bring bands and their fans together on vacation for a music festival at sea,” says Sixthman founder, Andy Levine. “The Rock Boat is the event that started it all for us and after sixteen sailings the mission has shifted from creating a music festival to setting the stage for a community to celebrate the things they love most in life. Now the vacation feels more like a family reunion for both the bands and their fans while adding a few hundred new members each year.”
Embarking February 10 through February 15, 2017, the 17th annual sailing will gather more than 2,500 music lovers for an open-water musical odyssey that includes non-stop performances and collaborations from dozens of artists, theme nights, fan-band activities and tropical memory making between Tampa, Florida; Harvest Caye, Belize; and Costa Maya, Mexico.
Rock fans may register now for the pre-sale at therockboat.com through June 13, with cabins going on sale to the public on June 15. Famous for its anything-goes atmosphere, spur-of-the moment collaborations and performances that often last from sunset to sunup, The Rock Boat will feature more than five stages and the opportunity for guests to score casual meet-and-greet time with their favorite artists.
