AMALIE ARENA RANKED THIRD IN THE UNITED STATES AND 15th IN THE WORLD AMONG ARENA VENUES BY POLLSTAR MAGAZINE
2017 Mid-Year Award Based on Worldwide Ticket Sales for Concerts, Events and Family Shows
TAMPA, FL – AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Florida has been ranked #15 out of the 200 Top Arena Venues in the world by Pollstar magazine, #3 in the United States. The mid-year rankings are based on worldwide ticket sales from January 1 – June 30, 2017 for concerts, events and family shows in venues seating 15,001 or more. Complete rankings can be viewed here.
“This is our highest Pollstar rating in several years, maybe in the history of the building,” said Steve Griggs, Chief Executive Officer of AMALIE Arena and the Tampa Bay Lightning. “It’s been a great year for major concert tours and a quick look at the remaining six months of the current year show the trend continuing. But we need to credit the Events team, led by Kevin Preast for excellent work in driving events of all types into AMALIE Arena. He’s done a fantastic job since joining the organization 18 months ago.”
Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment, LLC (TBSE) hired Preast as Senior Vice President of Event Management in December of 2015, returning him to the arena where he started his professional career. Preast reports to Griggs, while working alongside the TBSE senior management team directing all event entertainment booking and marketing for the arena.
Preast officially started on January 4, 2016 and is responsible for all event bookings at AMALIE Arena, serving as the company’s primary liaison with promoters and tour managers to identify, negotiate and facilitate operations, sales and marketing for all live performances in the venue. He also serves as a key member of the TBSE senior management team, contributing to organizational strategy, direction, long-term business planning and execution.
After very successful first six months of 2017, AMALIE recently hosted five sold-out concerts in July, 2017 with Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, New Kids on the Block’s “Total Package Tour” and Shawn Mendes.
“2017 has been one of the best years in the industry that I can remember,” Preast said. “We were fortunate to get off to a good start from a concert and event standpoint for the first six months of the year and we are pleased to be able to offer our guests a better slate of shows for the second half of the year. We appreciate the support of all the artists, tour managers and promoters, with Live Nation leading the charge, that continue to make AMALIE one of the busiest venues in the world.”
The arena is welcoming John Mayer on August 13, first-ever Monster Jam on August 19, Ed Sheeran on August 29, Kendrick Lamar on September 1, Mumford & Sons on September 20, Disney On Ice presents FROZEN September 29 – October 1, Bruno Mars on October 19, Tim and Faith’s “Soul to Soul Tour” on October 20, Andre Rieu on November 1, Fall Out Boy on November 5, Lady Gaga on December 1, and Katy Perry on December 15 to close out the year. And 2018 is promising to be a strong year for AMALIE as well, with Lorde already booked for April 11, with many more show announcements to come.

AMALIE Arena/Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment, LLC:
Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment, LLC is an entity established by Jeff Vinik in March, 2010 to manage the National Hockey’s League’s Tampa Bay Lightning, the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm and the leasehold rights to AMALIE Arena, the 19,092-seat downtown Tampa home in which the teams play their games. The venue opened in 1996 and was named the Ice Palace at the time, but it became AMALIE Arena in September, 2014 when the family-owned, Tampa Bay-based AMALIE Oil Company elected to partner with Vinik and Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment. Since Vinik’s purchase in 2010, he has led a complete brand and business transformation of the Lightning, the Storm and the arena which was anchored by a mostly private $85+ million-dollar renovation of the publicly owned facility. In 2014-15, the Lightning won the NHL’s Eastern Conference Championship, later appearing in the 2015 Stanley Cup Final.
