“GMA” is #1 for the Week in All Key Measures:

Outperforming NBC’s “Today” by 557,000 Total Viewers, 213,000 Adults 25-54, and 40,000 Adults 18-49

 “GMA” Ranks No. 1 in Adults 18-49 for Sixth Consecutive Week — Only Morning Show to Grow Year-to-Year in Adults 18-49

“GMA” Posts Largest News Demo Performance in 9 Weeks

“GMA” Grows Week-to-Week Across All Key Target Demos

ABC News’ “Good Morning America” ranked as the No. 1 morning newscast across all key target demos: Total Viewers (4.983 million), Adults 25-54 (1.878 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.335 million) for the week of August 11, 2014, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “GMA” outperformed “Today” (4.426 million, 1.665 million and 1.295 million, respectively) during the week by 557,000 Total Viewers, by 213,000 Adults 25-54 and 40,000 Adults 18-49. In addition, “GMA” widened its news demo lead versus its year-ago lead by +7% (+199,000 on w/o 8/12/13). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached over 17 million users last month.

“GMA” has won in overall viewers and the key adult news demo every week since the end of the 2014 Winter Olympics 25 weeks ago. Overall, “GMA” has ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in 107 of the last 111 weeks (since w/o 6/25/12), finishing behind “Today” only during the two weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the two weeks of the 2014 Winter Olympics.  In Adults 25-54, “GMA” has ranked No. 1 in 43 of the 47 weeks of the season, pacing ahead of the No. 1 finishes at the same point of the 2012-13 Season (38 of 46 weeks*). In Adults 18-49, “GMA” has ranked No. 1 for the last 6 weeks and in 13 of the last 17.

“GMA” scored across-the-board gains from the previous week (4.781 million, 1.743 million and 1.264 million, respectively, on w/o 8/4/14): Total Viewers (+4%), Adults 25-54 (+8%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%).  In fact, the ABC morning newscast turned in its strongest news demo performance in 9 weeks – since w/o 6/9/14.

“GMA” improved its Adults 18-49 performance year to year (+3% – 1.335 million vs. 1.294 million on w/o 8/12/13) for the 6th consecutive week. “GMA” was the only morning newscast to improve on the year-ago week, as “CBS This Morning” (-4%) and NBC’s “Today” (-4%) were down.

Season to date, “GMA” stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. “GMA” is leading NBC’s “Today” by 690,000 Total Viewers and 143,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, “GMA” has widened its season margins over “Today” versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 3% (690,000 vs. 667,000) and by a significant 70% in Adults 25-54 (143,000 vs. 84,000). Further, “GMA” now leads “Today” by its largest Adults 25-54 season advantage to-date.

“GMA” is posting its largest season margins over “Today” in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 in more than 22 years – since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen’s electronic database started on September of 1991).

Growing in both measures for the 4th season in a row, “GMA” is up over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+6%) and Adults 25-54 (+8%). In fact, “GMA” is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years – since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively. ”GMA” is also up the most in Adults 25-54 compared to “CBS This Morning” (-3%) and NBC’s “Today” (+6%).

During the week, “GMA” beat “CBS This Morning” in Total Viewers (+76%), Adults 25-54 (+112%) and Adults 18-49 (+119%).
