ABC’s ‘AMAs’ Surges by Double Digits Year to Year in Viewers and Teens 12–17

“AMAs”: L3 = 9.7 million/2.6 rating and L7 = 9.9 million/2.7 rating
“2017 American Music Awards” (8:00-11:00 p.m. – 9.0 million and 2.4/8 in AD18-49):
Facing strong NFL-fueled competition on the evening, including NBC’s surging “Sunday Night Football” game (Cowboys-Eagles) and an NFL overrun-boosted CBS (Patriots-Raiders), the “2017 American Music Awards” ranked as Sunday’s No. 1 entertainment program in Total Viewers (9.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.4/8).
- The “American Music Awards” grew by double digits year to year in Total Viewers (+10% – 9.0 million vs. 8.2 million) and Teens 12-17 (+20% – 2.4/14 vs. 2.0/10), while holding even with Adults 18-49 (2.4/8).
- The “2017 AMAs” drew ABC’s biggest entertainment audience in the Sunday 8:00-11:00 p.m. time slot since February and highest young adult number since May – since “The Oscars” on 2/26/17 and “The Billboard Music Awards” on 5/21/17, respectively.
