ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Where else but Florida could you play outdoor concerts in December? The Florida Orchestra is doing just that – taking the music outside for two concerts around the holidays.

A Holiday Evening Under the Stars: The Florida Orchestra will perform a mix of traditional and pops holiday music outside at the brand new City Centre complex on the Madeira Beach waterfront at 8 p.m. Friday, December 18. The program includes Sleigh Ride, Fantasia on Greensleeves, The Nutcracker Suite, A Rockin’ Christmas and more, with guest conductor Roderick Cox. There also will be photos with Santa and a toy drive to benefit the Seminole Rotary Club Red Sled Project. Tickets are $24 for general admission; $13 for kids; $45 for Silver VIP with reserved section, VIP cash bar and private rest rooms; and $66 for Gold VIP with garden area, reserved seats, private cash bar and private rest rooms. Gates open at 7 p.m. (6:30 for Gold and Silver VIP). Tickets available at madbeachfun.com. Concert is weather permitting.

TFO at Sundial: Let The Florida Orchestra set the mood to wrap up your holiday shopping with a free Baroque-style concert at the Sundial shopping and dining complex, 153 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Under the baton of guest conductor Roderick Cox, music will include Pifa from Handel’s Messiah, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and Respighi’s Adoration of the Magi. The concert begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, in the Sundial courtyard, weather permitting. It’s part of the Holiday Sizzle at Sundial series.

TFO’s Holiday Pops Live! CD is the perfect soundtrack for a party as well as a great stocking stuffer — for only $10. It includes Sleigh Ride, Carol of the Bells, Gospel Hallelujah, Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite and more, under the baton of Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik, and featuring the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay.
