The Lights in Bloom Show, an outside light show, at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will be taking place from December 12,2020 through January 2,2021. The lighting company, Affairs in The Air, the exclusive lighting company for the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, has produced a spectacular show of lights. Carolyn Babas, designer, from the Affairs in The Air company stated that the company buys $30,000 worth of lights per year and over two million lights are used in the display at Selby Gardens. The show begins each night at 6:00 P.M. Covid 19 protocols will be in place and masks must be worn. There will be social distancing limitations for the number of people admitted at a time each evening. Tickets for members $20, non-members $25, Children 5-17, $7 and children 4 and under, FREE.
This evening, Lynn Bates, Vice President for External Relations at Selby Gardens, gave us a tour of the light show. I was fortunate enough to arrive before the sunset and to witness the gardens come to life in the darkness. Through beautifully lit pathways and tunnels produced with the lighting, a paradise was created. One could imagine fairies flying among the flowers and trees, where beautiful displays of butterflies, dragon flies, peacocks, flowers, flamingos and other beautiful creatures of light were present for the imagination of children and adults alike. What a wonderful experience for family and friends to experience together!
