Today, Donna Missal shared a stripped-down version of “Hurt By You.” Accompanied simply by piano, her moving performance is a reminder that, as MTV News observed, “[her] powerhouse voice…can absolutely tear you to shreds.” The song was produced by Andrew Wells (X Ambassadors, Fitz and the Tantrums, Bebe Rexha) and Tommy King, who plays piano on the track. “Hurt By You” is the first official single from Donna’s new album, which will be released later this year by Harvest Records. “Hurt By You” has already amassed more than one million cumulative global streams. It has been featured on numerous playlists, including Spotify’s New Music Friday, Future Hits 2020 and Road Trip Weekend, and Apple Music’s Pop Hits 2020 and Future Hits 2020. The official video, which received a YouTube premiere, has been added to MTVu. With a nod to classic 90s music videos, Donna captures a relationship at the crossroads and celebrates the lure of the open road in the clip, which can be viewed HERE.

Refinery29 named “Hurt By You” as one of the “Best Songs Of The Spring.” NYLON noted, “This song was made for rolling the windows down and speeding on the backroads.” The Honey Pop said, “The care-free self-loving song has us jamming out and loving ourselves.” Ones to Watch observed, “Missal’s voice has the ability to wrench your heart…Her passionate grit translates in her exhales alone.”

Donna, who has racked up over 33 million cumulative global streams to date across all of her songs, has been keeping busy during quarantine. She covered songs by Alanis Morissette, Heart and Shania Twain in a karaoke session during her Consequence of Sound Instagram takeover. She also performed at Elvis Duran’s Stay At Home Ball, which benefited Project C.U.R.E., and did a Vevo At Home session on Instagram. TIME included Donna’s “Get Well” on its Isolation Playlist and them included her in their roundup of “13 Queer Musicians on What They’re Listening to in Quarantine.”

Praising Donna’s 2019 debut album, This Time (Harvest Records), Earmilk said, “A sound like this cannot be missed…we’re in full orbit around this star.” She supported the album with a sold-out, 20-date U.S. headline tour. Donna has also played numerous festivals – including Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo – and toured with such artists as King Princess, Lewis Capaldi, Bishop Briggs, K.Flay, Joywave, Sir Sly, and Barns Courtney.
