and fundraising activities and will help the Museum launch a new brand as part of a major expansion that includes the North Education Center and Mosaic Backyard Universe.

“This is truly an exciting time in the Museum’s history and we’re so glad to bring Elisa on board to help us launch the new identity we’ve envisioned since we first began planning for our expansion several years ago,” said Brynne Anne Besio, South Florida Museum CEO. “With her expertise in branding, website development, public relations and building community partnerships, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position that we know will serve the Museum well.”
Elisa joins the Museum most recently from RE/MAX Integrity in Eugene, Oregon, where she oversaw a marketing department serving 300 real estate brokers as Marketing Director. In Sarasota, she previously held the roles of Community Reinvestment Act Liaison and Marketing Vice President at IBERIABANK. She specializes in developing and implementing public relations and marketing plans that enhance brand visibility and increase community awareness. She has served as Board Chair for The Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness and Project 180, and volunteered her expertise to numerous area nonprofit organizations, including the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Visible Men Academy, Junior Achievement, United Way and Sarasota Artists Series. She is a graduate of the Gulf Coast Leadership Institute class of 2015.
“When I moved here in 2000, one of the first places I visited was the South Florida Museum,” Graber said. “My family and I have enjoyed many visits over the years and I’m thrilled to join the Museum’s team. Since I started here, I’ve had the pleasure of taking a virtual trip to the moon, getting up close to Priscilla the mastodon and touching a tortoise fossil that was 30 million years old. The Museum and the Bishop Planetarium are regional jewels, and I’m so excited to be able to share all that we have to offer with the community.”
The Museum is currently undergoing a nearly 30,000 square-foot expansion that will include new classrooms for all learners and a new early-learning area modeled after a backyard setting that is designed to introduce natural history concepts to young children. The Museum has already launched a latest-generation, state-of-the-art digital Planetarium system and revealed Pathways: Compelling Connections for the Chronically Curious — our new smart-phone and tablet-based app that is helping our visitors learn more about the objects in our unique exhibitions and the many stories behind them. The Museum’s transformation will enhance the community’s ability to explore the world and build on the region’s cultural landscape, ensuring that it will remain vital to our educational, tourism and business sectors long into the future.
