Los Angeles, CA (October 3, 2018)AXS TV takes viewers behind the stage, beyond the studio, and into the stories of some of the most iconic artists in music with the Docs That Rock block—airing every Tuesday night at 10pE/7pP. The eclectic lineup is packed with archive footage, rare performances, and intimate interviews capturing the career-defining moments and unforgettable concerts that left an indelible mark on music history.

 

The programming roster is jam-packed and features the Boss’ biggest fans discussing the impact and influence that the music of Bruce Springsteen has on their lives in Springsteen & I on October 9; followed by an intimate profile of one of the most beloved artists in Country music in Alan Jackson: Small Town Southern Man on October 16; and an in-depth look at the legendary guitarist and founder of Rainbow and Deep Purple in The Ritchie Blackmore Story on October 23. The month closes on October 30 with one band’s journey from small town obscurity to touring the world with Queen, and taking over the charts with enduring hits like “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust In The Wind” in Kansas: Miracles Out Of Nowhere.

 

The block continues on November 6 with an inside exploration of Steve Wozniack’s groundbreaking US Festival, featuring performances by Tom Petty, The Police, Fleetwood Mac, and Carlos Santana. Next, on November 13, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Steve Hackett reunite for the first time since 1982, reflecting on the trials and triumphs of their unparalleled legacy in Genesis – Sum Of The Parts. Then, on November 20, take a psychedelic trip with The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, and more in the off-the-wall account of the 1970 Canadian railroad tour Festival Express, boasting rare footage of the journey, as well as live performances, and a priceless jam session with Joplin, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, and Rick Danko; followed by a profile of saxophonist Bobby Keys, the close friend of Keith Richards who collaborated with superstars such as John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Etta James, Sheryl Crow, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Barbra Streisand, B.B. King, and many more in Bobby Keys: Every Night’s A Saturday Night on November 27.

 

Docs That Rock rolls into December with a deeply personal look at folk hero John Mellencamp as he travels across the country on his 2009 tour with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, and begins writing and recording his 2010 album No Better Than This in John Mellencamp: It’s About You on December 4. Then, on December 11, experience the never-before-told story of the historic ascent and shocking destruction of one of punk’s most important acts in The Rise And Fall Of The Clash. And ZZ Top axeman Billy Gibbons heads to Havana, taking in the people and the culture before rocking a roaring crowd at the 2015 Havana Jazz Festival in Billy Gibbons And The BFGs Go To Cuba on December 18.
