The Island Players, Manatee’s oldest community theatre, located at 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria, is pleased to present, “Beyond A Joke” by Derek Benfield.

 

The play, directed by James Thaggard, is set in a country house in England where six people have died in unfortunate and embarrassing accidents. When a young guest arrives for the weekend, conversational confusion leads him to believe these deaths were caused by sinister circumstances and he fears that he is next!

 

“Beyond A Joke” is the third play presented in this, our 69th Season. It runs from January 11-28, 2018 and is being Co-Produced by Bortell’s Lounge. A British farce, the play is filled with miscommunication, lots of surprises, twists and great laughs. If you need laughter in your life, come see it!

 

Our experienced cast consists of many Island favorites Sylvia Marnie as Jane, Heiko Knipfelberg as Andrew, Caroline Cox as Sarah, Daniel Coppinger as The Vicar, Judi King as Audrey and Peter Ruscoe as Edgar and Island newcomers Jeffrey A. Steiger as Geoff, Sarah Klipper as Sally.

 

Performances are Tuesday – Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $20 each. The Box Office opens on Tuesday, January 2 and is open from 9-1 Mondays – Saturdays. On performance nights, the Box Office opens at 7 pm and for Sunday Matinees, it opens at 1 pm. Visa, MasterCard or Discover are accepted.

Auditions for our next play, “The Curious Savage” by John Patrick, will be held on January 14 at 7:30 pm at the theater. The play, which runs from March 8 – 25, 2018, will be directed by Kelly Wynn Woodland and Co-Produced by Bortell’s Lounge.
