Community Foundation of Sarasota County Establishes Relief Fund in Preparation for Hurricane Irma’s Wake
SARASOTA, FL – The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has established the Hurricane Irma Relief Fund in preparation of Hurricane Irma’s Wake. While local needs are the fund’s first priority, the Community Foundation will also partner with the network of community foundations in Florida and the Southeastern United States on distributing funds to the areas of greatest need should Irma’s path veer to the East and not hit our area as severely.
“We will be in close communication over the next following days with our colleagues at various regional community foundations and the Florida Philanthropic Network to ensure the best use of funds for relief and recovery efforts for our neighbors in Irma’s path, however the fund’s first priority will remain on our local community as needs arise,” says Roxie Jerde, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
Raised funds will support recovery efforts and go to providing food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment and other support to victims in the wake of Irma.
