| (Venice, FL) Former Venice Theatre actor and technician, Matt McClure, will return to Venice to treat audiences to a concert of Buddy Holly music. Performances will be Sunday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 30 at 3 and 8 p.m. on the theatre’s MainStage. Tickets are $30 and available now at 941-488-1115 and online at VeniceStage.com. Limited seating is available for the 8 p.m. performances. The matinee was added to accommodate demand.
Complete with appearances from Ritchie Valens (played by Markus Mansilungan) and The Big Bopper (Erik Furuheim) Buddy Holly fans will not want to miss this high-energy event. Since making his debut as Buddy Holly in Venice Theatre’s 2015 production of Buddy: The Buddy Holy Story, McClure has gone on to play Buddy four more times at theatres across the country.
McClure, Mansilungan, and Furuheim will be joined on stage by Austin Gutierrez on drums, Max Bezanson on bass, Emily Lde on saxophone, Alejandro Gutierrez on trumpet, Dave DeWitt on trombone, and Chris Bott on piano. Chris Wren steps in as the “4th Cricket,” Kristofer Geddie and Charlotte Crowley provide background vocals, and Syreeta Banks makes a special appearance to sing “Shout!”
Venice Theatre is located at 140 W. Tampa Ave. on the island in Venice. Box office hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday; and one hour before show time.### |
