Let’s shout loudly, human life is PRICELESS! |
SAN ANTONIO – October 17, 2017 – On Thursday, October 19, audiences everywhere will watch the two-time Grammy award-winning band for KING & COUNTRY’S groundbreaking film, PRICELESS, on Christian Cinema’s Facebook Live (www.ChristianCinema.live) at 8 p.m. EST, highlighting the one-year anniversary of the film. The film is also available to own or rent in Digital HD via Christian Cinema’s app on Google, Apple TV, Amazon Fire and others. In the film, James Stevens, after the tragic death of his wife and losing custody of his little girl, is at the darkest crossroad of his life. Driving a truck with mysterious but questionable cargo, Stevens realizes that he’s part of the system driving two sisters into sex slavery. Forced to make a decision, he must choose between running with the illicit payment he receives or taking a stand for something greater. A year after the release of the film, for KING & COUNTRY hopes that showing the film for free will advance the causes that they’ve championed in the film: that all people, especially women, are worthy of respect, and that standing up for the sexually abused requires conscious, pro-active efforts on the part of the church and believers everywhere. As recent events in our culture show, the problem goes deeper than just human trafficking. Since Sunday, when Alyssa Milano called on women to share their personal experiences with sexual harassment or sexual assault, the hashtag #MeToo has been tweeted nearly a half a million times, a Twitter spokeswoman confirmed Monday. The scope of the problem is beyond comprehension: one in three women have been sexually harassed at work, and two-thirds have experienced street harassment. One in six has been raped or experienced an attempted rape. Directed by Ben Smallbone, produced by Luke Smallbone, and starring Joel Smallbone as James, this is a passion project that the family firmly believes in. Two years ago, the band was performing on stages around the world, and sharing their vision of healthy relationships. “We’ve been standing on stage telling women that they deserve to be treated with love and respect,” Joel Smallbone shared. “And telling men that there’s a chivalrous way to show love. That lead us to Priceless.” Approaching their brother Ben with a desire to tell a story with an overarching theme of the value of human life and taking a stand regardless of the costs, Joel and Luke reminded him of a documentary he’d edited about an ex-pimp who ended up rescuing women from human trafficking. As production on the story concluded, they ultimately tapped Ben to direct and Joel to act as the lead. Now, fans of for KING & COUNTRY and those seeking a thrilling, provocative film can enjoy it for free through Christian Cinema’s Facebook Live broadcast (www.ChristianCinema.live) on Thursday, October 19, at 8 p.m. EST. It’s the band’s desire that more people will be aware of the victims of sexual abuse and it’s devastating aftermath that leaves victims hopeless and without a voice. Each one is priceless.
