THE 3% MOVEMENT & THE ATHENA FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCE JURY OF THE INAUGURAL ATHENA ADVERTISING AWARDS
THE JURY INCLUDES PAM FUJIMOTO, LIZ TAYLOR, AND JON LEVIN
NEW YORK – September 26, 2017 – The 3% Movement and the Athena Film Festival today announced the jury of The Athena Advertising Awards. The inaugural awards will recognize creative advertising that depicts strong, bold women from all walks of life.
The judges will include Pam Fujimoto, Executive Creator Director of WONGDOODY (named Advertising Age’s “Small Agency of the Year”); Liz Taylor, Chief Creative Officer of Foote, Cone and Belding (FCB) Chicago, dubbed as the oldest and newest advertising agency in Chicago; and Jon Levin, Manager of ROAR, where he oversees the production and development division.
“We are thrilled to announce the jury for our first Athena Advertising Awards,” said Kathryn Kolbert of the Athena Film Festival. “Pam Fujimoto, Liz Taylor, and Jon Levin bring forth a wealth of knowledge within the creative advertising and marketing space, and we’re excited for them to share their expertise through judging the first ever Athena Advertising Awards.”
For eight years, the Athena Film Festival, a joint initiative of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College and Women and Hollywood, has showcased inspiring films that celebrate the stories of remarkable, courageous women leaders. The Athena Advertising Awards will recognize remarkable stories of women and girls told via the world’s most prevalent media: advertising.
“Now more than ever it’s important to showcase women’s stories and have their voices be heard through impactful creative mediums, especially advertising,” says Kat Gordon, founder of The 3% Movement. “We’re excited to have such a prestigious panel of judges on board to help celebrate the brands and agencies telling these stories, by choosing the winning ads in November.”
The Awards presentation will be held before an audience of distinguished creative leaders on November 3, 2017 at the 3% Conference in New York City. The presentation will be replayed as part of the Athena Film Festival, February 22-25, 2018 at Barnard College, where the winning ads will be showcased.
The Athena Advertising Awards competition was open to all North American brands and advertising agencies that have developed creative campaigns since January 2016 in six award categories: Film, Digital/Mobile, Social Marketing, Print, Events/Experiential, and Integrated Campaigns.
ABOUT THE 3% MOVEMENT
Started as a passion project to spotlight a huge business opportunity in advertising — the lack of female creative leadership and its impact on connecting with an overwhelmingly female marketplace — the 3% Conference has grown exponentially since its 2012 launch and has hosted events in 16 cities globally. She’s written about how her parenting skills are transferable to the office, spoken at the 3% Conference, and promotes a more gender balanced industry through the agency’s Women in Advertising scholarship. Between those years she has collected awards from every major advertising award show, including Cannes, One Show, Communication Arts, and D&AD.
