AXS TV IS ‘SHAKIN’ THINGS UP WITH LEGENDARY MUSICIAN EDDIE MONEY AND HIS FAMILY, AS THE NETWORK GREENLIGHTS NEW REALITY SERIES ‘REAL MONEY’ (WT)
The Series Takes a Hilarious and Heartfelt Look at the Money’s Unconventional Dynamic, as They Live, Laugh, Bicker and Rock All Under One Roof
Los Angeles, CA (September 28, 2017) – AXS TV, the premier destination for classic rock programming, has greenlit a new 10-episode reality series, “Real Money,” (WT) following the daily lives of multi-platinum rock legend Eddie Money and his family. The series begins production today and will include candid moments with Money as he deals with the struggles and joys of life at home with his wife, eight pets, and five wild and talented children. The series is as honest and open as it is heartfelt and hilarious, capturing every moment of the family’s unique dynamic as they live, laugh, bicker, and rock under one roof.
With a legendary career spanning over 40 years, Eddie Money has long-established himself as one of rock’s most beloved entertainers. After leaving his native Brooklyn for the Berkeley music scene in the 1970s, Money quickly rose to fame on the strength of a slew of successful albums and Top 40 hits including “Take Me Home Tonight,” “Shakin’,” “Think I’m In Love,” “Baby Hold On,” and many more. Now, at 68 years old, Money continues to tour across the country with his band, which includes three of his equally talented offspring.
Money is joined on the show by his wife of over 30 years, Laurie, who tirelessly works to keep the peace and keep everyone on schedule; as well as his children/bandmates including his singer-songwriter son Dez, who writes and produces his own music, opens for his dad and plays guitar in his father’s band; son Julian, who plays the drums; and fiery songstress Jesse, the couple’s only daughter, who Eddie compares to blues siren Janis Joplin. Rounding out the cast is Eddie’s son Joe, a gifted guitarist who eschewed his father’s rock roots in favor of making his own pulsing dubstep beats; and Eddie’s eldest child, Zach, who helps run the family business when his dad and siblings are out on the road.
“Following the success of our original series Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar— which gives viewers a unique glimpse at a new rock icon each week— we wanted to expand our lineup with another high-quality show that would resonate with our audience in the same way,” said Evan Haiman, AXS TV’s Vice President of Music Programming and Production. “‘Real Money’ is that perfect complement, taking fans inside the world of one of the hardest-working men in rock, and putting the spotlight on a fun and fascinating family dynamic that is as entertaining as it is heartwarming.”
On producing the new reality series, Eddie Money said, “We may not be the typical cookie-cutter family, but we have a strong sense of love and loyalty for each other that really shines through. It’s real, and it’s something I think everyone can relate to. We’re excited to share our lives with America, as they join us on this wild ride. I’ve only got two tickets to paradise, but I’m taking everybody!”
“Real Money” is produced by Enchanted Media with Victoria Levy, MJ Schirmer, and Shelley Storm as executive producers, in collaboration with executive producers Dina LaPolt, Steve Longo, Eddie and Laurie Money, and in association with Red Arrow Industries, executive producers Danny Downing and Ryan Hardison.
