13 CROWNS TO RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE ‘GRATEFUL’ ON SEPTEMBER 11
Band of Seven Siblings’ EP Coming This Winter
Los Angeles, CA (September 8, 2017) – Pop/R&B band 13 Crowns will release their joyously upbeat and positively grooving debut single “Grateful,” from their upcoming five-song EP, on September 11. Written by Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd (Justin Bieber, Usher, 112, Chris Brown, Big Boi), the pop-soul anthem showcases the group’s ability to create strong melodies with their unique style of Top-40 pop. Lyrically, the song’s strong message reminds us that, as the band explains, “even though we go through challenges and difficulties, we can rise up, become stronger for it, and in the long run, be grateful for what we’ve learned and overcome.”
13 Crowns is made up of the seven oldest siblings of the 13-member Wolfgramm family, ranging in age from 12 (drummer Nora) to 21 (Eve on keyboards), with 15-year-old Abraham and 16-year-old Tihane the lead singers and songwriters, 18-year-old Isabella on bass, along with Maikeli (14) and Heinrich (20) on guitar. Reminiscent of the early days of the Jackson 5 – particularly the spirited vocal interplay between Abraham and Tihane – the band’s roots are solidly in soul, R&B, hip-hop and pop, citing such influences as groups like The Fugees, Arrested Development and The Roots, with positive messages and an infectious upbeat feel.
The brand-new five-song EP, to be released on independent label H&S Records (distributed through Sony/RED) this winter, was recorded at famed L.A. studios the Record Plant and Westlake Studios, with the notable producing team, The Audibles —Dominic “DJ Mecca” Jordan and James “Jimmy G” Giannos (Justin Bieber, Lupe Fiasco, Keyshia Cole, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Drake, Ciara and Rihanna)– and “Poo Bear.”
The Polynesian-American offspring of professional musicians, their father, Haini Wolfgramm, was the bassist in the ‘80s Minnesota family band The Jets, who had hits like “Crush on You” (#3 on the Billboard Hot 100), “You Got It All,” “Cross My Broken Heart” and the #1 dance smash, “Sendin’ All My Love,” and their mother, Sarah, was a singer-songwriter for the group Blush, who was signed to RCA in the ‘90s. The oldest members were determined to follow in their parents’ footsteps. The journey began in 2006, when their dad purchased instruments and taught them how to play. Plenty of woodshedding, practice and live performances helped them hone their craft. Now, 13 Crowns are ready to assume the pop throne.
