UNDERWATER ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE GULF OF MEXICO with DR. JOSEPH COZZI
The waters in and around the Gulf of Mexico contain archaeological deposits that date from early Native Americans up through shipwrecks involved in the exploration, colonization and industrialization of North America. Recent discoveries, like the LaSalle Shipwreck in Texas and the Emanuel Point Ships in Florida, are portals to specific days in the past when ambitious human endeavors ended tragically. Dr. Cozzi, who directed fieldwork on these projects, will share his experiences and place this research in the context of the history of Florida, the United States and the world.
