Largo Medical Center Designated as an Aetna Institute of Quality For Weight Loss Surgery
(LARGO, FLORIDA) – Largo Medical Center has been designated as an Aetna Institute of Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity.
“This designation shows how the staff at Largo Medical Center continues to put the quality of care of the hospital’s patients first,” said Tiffany Jessee-Wylie, DO, Medical Director, Florida Bariatric Centers at Largo Medical Center.
Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.
“Without the level of compassionate and quality care our hospital provided, the clinical team wouldn’t be able to achieve accolades like this or be the first in so many clinical arenas,” said Anthony Degina, Chief Executive Officer, Largo Medical Center.
In 2016, Largo Medical Center received the prestigious MBSAQIP Bariatric Surgical Accreditation and became the first in the area to perform a non-surgical weight loss balloon procedure. In years prior, the staff performed the first robotic bariatric adjustable gastric band and bariatric sleeve operations.
