U.S. Tour Presented by Xfinity
Katy Perry’s WITNESS: The Tour will now kick off on September 19 at Montreal’s Bell Centre to accommodate the complexity of the scope and enormous scale of this tour.
“Due to unavoidable production delays, major elements of my tour stage design could not be available for me to rehearse on until this week,” said Katy Perry. “I’ll be spending the next few weeks taking the time to properly prepare the show to be an experience I am proud to share with you. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but hope everyone who sees the show will agree it was worth the wait. My first show on WITNESS: The Tour will be in Montreal on September 19, and all the rescheduled dates are listed on katyperry.com/tour.”
WITNESS: The Tour is an imaginative trip from outer-space to inner-space, from the planets to the bottom of our oceans, and a musical journey through Katy Perry’s biggest milestones and mega-hits right up to her latest album. The dramatically original staging means that there isn’t a bad seat in the house, when Katy brings out her band and dancers, along with all the bells and whistles.
The North American arena tour is produced by AEG Presents.
Katy Perry has also revealed the tour’s opening acts. Noah Cyrus will join WITNESS: The Tour on September 19 – November 1, followed by Purity Ring on November 7 – December 20 and Carly Rae Jepsen on January 5 – February 5.
All tickets purchased for the original concert dates will be honored for the new date, refunds available at point purchase.
Tickets are on sale now. All U.S. concerts on WITNESS: The Tour are presented by Xfinity. Additional sponsors are Citi, COVERGIRL and KATY PERRY PARFUMS. See below for itinerary or visit http://katyperry.com.
About Noah Cyrus
Budding recording artist Noah Cyrus is one to watch for 2017, as her debut single “Make Me (Cry)” went straight to #1 on Spotify’s Viral Global Chart within hours of release, and has since surpassed 250 million global audio and video streams.
The introductory song from her forthcoming album NC-17 was met with unanimous praise in the U.S. and abroad, with Dazed calling it a “leftfield pop ballad” and Rolling Stone deeming it an “R&B-tinged pop tearjerker.” Her most recent release and follow up, “Stay Together,” is following suit, and already lining up to be the “song of the summer contender,” according to Idolator and NYLON crowning it as a “warm and cheery anthem of the summer.”
Following her televised awards show debut at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards, the 17-year old received a standing ovation from the audience, that included some of the biggest names in music such as Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendez and The Chainsmokers, among others. She performed “Stay Together” at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards for the first time on television, with Billboard noting how she “exuded some serious attitude.”
Cyrus continues to show her range with “I’m Stuck,” which Rolling Stone called “catchy, shimmering country-pop.” These songs will appear on her debut album, NC-17.
About Purity Ring
Purity Ring is an electronic pop duo originally from Edmonton, Canada. In 2012 they released debut album Shrines; a cohesive, beguiling and wholly unique universe of what the band called ‘Future Pop’. At the center of the amniotic swirl of Shrines was an undeniable nucleus of crystalline pop which presciently suggested both indie and popular music to come. Critics were effusive: ‘Best New Music’ from Pitchfork and praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NPR, among others. They quickly amassed a rabid fanbase, toured relentlessly and sold out shows worldwide.
On 2015’s ‘Another Eternity,’ Purity Ring traded the gorgeously claustrophobic atmospheres of Shrines for wide-open, muscular vistas of sound and luminous, up-front vocals. Crafting a lyrical universe of “sweat and dreams” populated by seacastles, rattling spines, and weeping drawers, Megan James wielded concrete imagery and metaphor with increasingly direct, startling resonance. Corin Roddick’s gifts for evocative melody remained intact, but his drum work and use of space were been completely reforged: immaculately built and focused in service of the song.
On July 24th, 2017–the 5th anniversary of Shrines’ release date–the band released a new single, “Asido”. It is in many ways the perfect synthesis of Shrines brooding production and Another Eternity’s bold, expansive sheen.
Though they are now working at a higher resolution, Purity Ring remain hands-on with every aspect of their project. As usual, the band produced and recorded “Asido” themselves. With every step forward they take, Purity Ring actualize their vision while sounding utterly and undeniably like themselves.
About Carly Rae Jepsen
Multi-platinum Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen’s 2015 album E*MO*TION earned a host of rave reviews with several outlets – including TIME, Entertainment Weekly, Pitchfork, People, Stereogum, Vulture, Complex, and Noisey– declaring it the pop album of 2015. The set featured the platinum selling single “I Really Like You.” One year later Jepsen released E*MO*TION Side B as a gift to her fans and saw it immediately rise on the charts. Jepsen’s U.S. debut album Kiss featured the blockbuster break-out hit “Call Me Maybe” which climbed to #1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries, has sold over 20 million singles worldwide and is certified Diamond in the United States. It earned Jepsen 2012 Grammy nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year. Jepsen spent much of 2014 starring in the lead role in the Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Jepsen also starred as the iconic Pink Lady, “Frenchy,” in FOX’s four time EMMY award winning musical GREASE: LIVE. Jepsen is currently working on a new studio album.
WITNESS: The Tour is Katy’s first run since the sold-out, 151-date Prismatic World Tour, which concluded in 2015 and was hailed by Rolling Stone as “a show to damage retinas and blow minds.”
Katy made her Capitol Records debut with 2008’s One of the Boys after signing to the label in 2007. She cemented her status as a global superstar with the follow-up album, Teenage Dream (2010). PRISM, her 2013 album, debuted at No. 1 on iTunes in 100 countries and has sold more than 12.5 million adjusted albums worldwide. With the singles “Roar,” “Firework,” and “Dark Horse” each surpassing the 10 million threshold including song sales and streams, Katy is the only artist to earn three RIAA Digital Single Diamond Awards. In her 10 years with Capitol, she has racked up a cumulative 18+ billion streams alongside worldwide sales of more than 40+ million adjusted albums and 125+ million tracks. She is the most-followed person globally on Twitter.
